I will copy and paste what he wrote:
hi,
surgery at 7:30 and was home by 10:15! had a nerve block and mild
general. had my choice from the get go and we decided if the block
didn't take, we would go the other route (or some combination therof.)
she tried the block 3x's and the next an last thing i heard was we'll
do a general. i tried to warn her i've had trouble with them in the
past. i thnk i'm just slow to react to them as i could not feel or
move my fingers 'till about 3pm. very weird to say the least. my arm
pit hurts more than my arm right now from those attempts! have been
taking the percocets at half strength so far, but i can see bumping it
up soon. first follow-up on thurs morn. thanks for all your prayers
and well wishes. i know they were a big help. mike will go back to
school tomorrow and i will be ok. i guided him through supper, lemon
garlic pork roast, baked tater and salad. very good indeed.
will keep in touch whenever my vision isn't double from the pain meds!
lol

hi kate,
i can see your posts, not sure why you are not seeing mine. arm is coming
along nicely. didn't wake me during the night for 4 a.m. pain dose. it does
itch like the dickens though! tomorrow i get the dressing changed and am
hoping that helps. doc did give me some anti-histamines for general itching,
but they only go so far. also have some stool softner and am still waitng on
that to move things along (so to speak.) can drive as long as i don't take 2
pain meds! thanks for your thoughts and prayers. mike has been a big help
through this ordeal. he made a big pot of chili last night.
if you see this post, let me know. just curious.

that's great news about you sleeping through the pain meds wearing off, Gary!
And great news about how helpful Mike has been.  Sometimes kids'll really
surprise us when they're needed.  How much chili powder went  into that pot
of chili?  just wondering - you might not want to wander too far afield with
both a stool softener and chili powder working their way through you.  <weg>

When they start leaving the dressings off the incision, lather it up well
with lotion and that should help some with the healing itching.  I know it
can really drive you up the wall sometimes!  Do you have any of that Belly
Butter Melinda has been teaching us all about?

I think it's available to many health food type stores.  If you can't find it
or can't get to the store, talk to Melinda.  She's our wellspring of
information about it.

suddenly appears where nothing was before.)  i'm so glad it went well for
you, gary.  ohhh, those itchies can drive one insane!  hope that stops soon
for you; now, would be nice.  shall i insist?<smile>  soooo, mike has turned
into a chilli maker, eh?  he's a good kid, gary and he loves you very much.
it doesn't surprise me that he's been a big help to you.  heal quickly,
gary.  my healing thoughts and prayers continue for you.

So glad the surgery went without a hitch and that you are now resting
semi-comfortable at home.   Don't ya just hate those itchies after
surgery?   Whew they can really drive a person mad!   Praying that you
heal quickly and without complication and that the surgery takes care of
the problems you were having!

Hugs,

Donna G

PS........tell that fine son of yours that any time he wants to come
over and cook for me he is more than welcom!   Wow, have been impressed
with his cooking abilities!
