I just got back from my doc after begging and pleading for an appointment. My
hands and wrists swelling and pain is, in all likelihood, not RA related but
just more RSI stuff. I am having a deadline crunch and I had been keyboarding
for too many hours and not wearing my braces all the time because they make me
type very slowly. I can however, write by hand with no trouble. Ah, the joys
of homeschool-you can turn anything into a classroom experience. My darling
jamie is taking my real paper pages and typing them. This is a very
inefficient system although fun for a few days.
I am going to have to find a voice recognition program that actually works as I
have been putting off work on different manuscripts for months just feeling
like I can only keep up with my work that has to be done. I know we approach
this subject from time to time, but has anyone found a new or improved voice
recogition system (not dragon-have tried all the updates and still can't train
it to work for me)?
Funny thing is, I can write all day using a pen but I am off keyboarding for
right now. I will up my ASU, do a few more days of pred, ice and moxa, and
take a ton of traumagesic and check in again with a friend who is an OT to see
if she has any more suggestions. Well, I wrote for years by hand and hired a
typist-I suppose I can always go back to doing that as archaic as it seems.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
Oh yes, the reason paraffin canning wax is not as good as the kind made for the
machines is that it is not medical grade wax and therefore has impurities the
med grade wax doesn't which can be problematic because the heat drives any
substances into the body (direct from my RD's mouth)

melinda,
so sorry about the hands and wrists. i still use dragon when necessary. the
last time i researched the topic was about a year ago and it seemed that was
still #1, which makes the thought of #'s 2 and 3 rather frightening, doesn't
it?
try googling voice recognition software or ty this site: www.speaktoyourpc.com
and if you find something that truly works, please let us know.

Glad you found out M what it is. Sorry that this is happening to you though.
Sending lots of hugs, and tlc to you.
I hope you find something that will help relieve it some if not all.
I feel for you sweetie.

i'm glad you got in to see your doctor, melinda. i'm kinda slow on the draw
tonight. what is "rsi"? and is that a good-ish thing vs. ra? i didn't
know that about the wax! i learn something new everyday! thanks. wish i
could help you with the vrp, but dragon speak is the only one i'm familiar
with, because a friend has it.

We love you, m and we love having you around here - but rest those hands and
wrists! Anything you're typing for us you'd better be wearing your braces
for! Give Jamie a hug from us for helping you out.
(kate, RSI is repetitive stress injury, like carpal tunnel syndrome and other
such problems.)
