Can someone advise me of a RX card or assistance  that you can buy or get
online that would be of some even if it is just a small amount, anything
would help.  DH just had catarect surgery and a little bottle of drops with
no more than a teaspoon full of drops was $60.00. I have a RX for my 1 month
supply of  1 pain med and the cheapest place I found was Sams club for
164.00 for 60 tabs or 1 month supply, and this is only 1 out of my 9 Rxs.
This is the 1st time I have had to get my refills without a rx card. I cant
believe the prices.
this is heart breaking.

Would you qualify for Medicade (not medicare)?

It is assest-driven --- income and liquid assets and such.
Home, TV, wedding rings, work tools, etc aren't counted.

bummer that you're having such a rough time of it, sweetie.  janice, have
you tried googling for "drug assistance programs" or the name of the
pharmceutical company who makes the drug you need +"drug assistance
programs"?

i used to have a list of the major pharmaceutical companies drug program
websites, but i can't seem to find it.  maybe somebody on asa still has a
copy, because i know i got it here.  i'm sorry i can't find it now.

is either of you old enough (i.e. 50 or older) to belong to AARP?  I got a
card from them for, I think, $20 last year.  The discounts it offered on meds
varied widely from a couple of dollars to $20 on a single refill.  It's not a
big help, but it does help and in my case, it paid for itself in the first
month.  You might want to look into it.  http://www.aarppharmacy.com/aarpNet/

Here are a the best sites to learn about patient assistance programs that you
might qualify for http://www.needymeds.com/  and
http://www.rxassist.org/default.cfm

also ask your doctors if they can help you out with samples.  We've learned
that most docs are very helpful with the assistance programs and handing out
samples.  After all, good docs want their patients to get the meds they need!
I know that asking for and taking such assistance is difficult, but it does
work and does help.  Without these programs and sampling from docs I would
have been incapacitated last year and my husband would not have been able to
continue on the career track that now has us well insured again.

thanks folks
I dont think I will qualify for medicaid and I have filled some drug
assistance forms from compnaies but havent heard from them yet.   Im hoping
that I do qualify for these. Docs are real picky about oxycontin rx and
perdu wont do assistance until your doctor starts the ball rolling. I have
asked my RD to phone me about this but havent heard  yet. I do have an appt
with him next week so I hope I can talk to him  in person about it  maybe he
can get things going in that office before next months refill comes due.
I will check on the aarp card too, every little bit does help
thanks for help folks
