Saw the surgeon for the 4 1/2 week visit yesterday. He
was impressed at how much movement I have and my
agility. Also liked the look of the scar [thank you
Vit. E].
I asked him about dancing and saw his shoulders slump.
So I said "tell me what you would tell all your
patients". 3 months. sigh....   So three months it is.
Feb. 4 but who is counting. Called upstairs to John
yesterday - Jan 28, right and he said 'no'. You are
shorting yourself one week. pout.
Doctor explained what inside scar looks like and the
place where the muscles were cut. Medial side. Said the
muscles healing properly will take the three months.
Since that is the only place that hurts off and on now
and still wakes me in the middle of the night, I know
that waiting will be the absolute best thing to do.
Don't want to have to go through any of this again
anytime soon.
I did get permission to return to the gym for weights
and to the pool for walking. I said swimming to him
first and then said -- nope I don't swim, I just put on
a waist belt and march around shallow to deep and back
again. Got up this morning with good intentions but the
wind and cold shoved me back. Wind is gusting to 21 mph
at times and sounds like a freight train. I am a wimp.
Hoping this lack of desire will pass.
I think I might try sleeping upstairs tonight. I really
miss my Select Comfort bed. I practiced getting up off
that low toilet this morning and managed so I believe I
will make John give up the entire Queen and make room
for his roommate.

you go, girl!<g>  i'm soooo proud of you and of how well you've helped
yourself heal thus far, duckie.  but, i dunno, kid.   you only have 3 months
to get all your new dancing attire and selections in order.  do you think
that's enough time to do all that?<veg>  thank goodness you have the
holidays to help the time fly for you.  continue to heal well, my friend.

Good work Caroline.  Hope that three months flies by.  Can you do conditioning
exercises during those  months so that your muscles don't atrophy?

Sorry to hear it is going to be three months.

But glad you are healing like you are.

You be a good duckie now and listen to the dr. As you said you don't want to
do this anytime soon again.

Hugs and love to you and lots of TLC.

The healing sounds really good especially considering you have RA.
The wait for dancing sounds like a huge bummer and his shoulders
should slump.   Hope you can recover from your dancing withdrawl. --

Glad to hear that you intend to obey him on the dancing!  I know you really,
really want to get back to it, but it is more important to make sure you can
keep doing it for a long time once you return.  Hey, and you're already a
third of the way there.  By the time you recover from Christmas, it'll almost
be dancing time again.

I hear you on the weather wimp thing.  I skipped swimming Monday because it
was snowing fairly steadily.  Couldn't see driving 45 miles in snow just to
swim a half mile.

I hope returning to your bed works.  Husbands do get used to spreading out.

I can hear it now! I think there should be a pool on the precise date that
Duckie comes in here screaming "I can't take it any more and am on my way to
the dance studio!" I'm guessing somewhere around January 7th!LOL

Caroline, you are so driven and have worked so hard to regain use of that
knee and to surpass the doctor's expectations. I knew you would have no
trouble with the healing process to this point. The hardest part for you is
coming, I think. The part where you have to be patient and not able to
really see the healing taking place...on the inside.<g>

When Feb. 4th rolls around I know we will be seeing one amazing Duckie, all
decked out in new dress and shoes and ready to dance like never before. I
can't wait to see the pictures.

Love ya,
Kelly C.;o)
