Welcome to ASA.    The best support group on the internet when used by
people that regularly post here and not some mess from crossposting.  Let me
first to say that I have never seen the word arthrogryposis before and  if
you want to explain it, I thank you.

Hi Harv,
A Google search found:
http://www.orthoseek.com/articles/arthrogryposis.html

Which say's;
"Arthrogryposis translated from the Greek literally means "curved or hooked
joints."
Hence, this term is used to describe multiple joint contractures present at
birth. There are many causes for congenital multiple joint contractures, and
could be due to abnormal nerve or muscle development in the womb. However, the
commonest form of arthrogryposis, present in 40% of cases, is a condition called
amyoplasia."

Thanks, Alex.  I was totally unfamiliar with the word, too.

Theresa, has this condition been as difficult and painful as it sounds?  What
can you tell us about your treatment for it?

Hi, and welcome. Arthrogryposis is nasty stuff. How badly affected are you? If
you like chocolate, better hide it, a lot of people here might steal it. But
they are nice people, despite their tendency to steal chocolate. I will guard it
for you, free of charge. :-)

Welcome Theresa.  I don't post very often but I read everything and I know
you'll be able to find any info you might need here ... and you'll be
welcomed with open arms.  Guard your chocolate though because some of these
guys REALLY like it.  *Grin*  And by the way, I like my chocolate with
coffee.  ;-)

hi theresa!  welcome to the sandbox.  the "family" here, sans trolls, is a
great group of people and this ng is considered a refuge, by many.  there is
a vast array of knowledge, wisdom and abilities here.  you will find, in
this group, a lot of love, caring and compassion, as well as silly fun.
pull up a chair and sit awhile, as our mama char would say if she had seen
your post first.

i'm sorry you have athrogryposis.  it sounds very painful.

please tell us more about yourself.  and, do you like chocolate?  do you
have any?  you may have to present it to our chocolate inspector (i'll let
her introduce herself) who will make certain any of your chocolate, that has
even minor imperfections, never touches your lips.

our guardian of chocolate, would be more than willing to lock it up for safe
keeping, if she weren't so busy at the moment.  we need to appoint someone
pro-tempore for that position, until donnah gets back.   our clubhouse has a
huge chocolate safe of which only donnah knows the combination, though why
we didn't appoint donnag, who only likes gumdrops, to that position is
something i'll never fathom.  it is really very odd how chocolate shrinks in
time, but donnah assures us it is a natural chocolate aging process.

duckie, our resident dancer is currently recovering from knee replacement
surgery at the moment.   generally, she frquently will do her chocolate
ceremonial dance, while our melinda performs the requisite rituals to insure
our adequate supply of chocolate.

kimmy and kj, upon request, will teach you how to create sumptuous chocolate
margaritas for youself.

adelle, our clubhouse's resident attorney and whose fee for service is a
trace of chocolate, will handle all the legal work to insure your chocolate
does not fall into the hands of unscrupulous brigands and protect it from
false claims.

mama char, our clubhouse chef extraordinaire, will prepare positively sinful
delicacies from your chocolate for you.

maryz, our resident chocolate conservationist, will teach you how to
conserve it and take it for  kayak rides, occassionally, to keep its
chocolate spirit robust.

johnie, our "dessert dweller", will take it on ceremonial hikes into his
desert surrounds to keep it smooth and creamy for you.

me, i just write poetry about it.

i know i've missed a number of people in our group with a wide range of
chocolate skills of which you might wish to avail yourself.  i'll let them
introduce themselves to you.

in the meantime, feel free to jump in anywhere on any thread and get to know
the rest of us as we get to know you.

That's good. The only patient I ever saw with arthrogryposis was a wee baby who
had major joint involvement. We did a lot of physio on him and I have often
wondered how he made out.

Wow, just had a brief look at your web page, and Tucker's. I wish the orthopedic
surgeon who told me we were wasting our time doing physio and teaching his mum
to do physio. That didn't stop us, though, nurses are sometimes stubborn. :-)

I had replyed befor reading your reply.  Just finished my first purusal through
your website.  I have a billion comments. First, I love the term diffability.
It is much more graceful than differently abled.

I am hoping I can conclude by the members of your fur family, that you are a
dog person?

I love your work-  My favorite though is the piece with the kid sliding.  The
motion just brings tears to my eyes.  I was the original slide queen in my
baseball days.

Is that pic with the young man in the military, Michael?

Thanks for the links about arthrogryposis-

Once again, welcome

How much time did it take to load?

I'm on high-speed cable and exited after 65 seconds of
looking at a blank page.   Then the damned site took
another minute++ before it would return me to OE.

This was the second time.  I tried it last week when the
URL was first posted.
Squirrely - 13 Dec 2004 01:07 GMT
about the same time as your high speed one did. ;-P
