dadand1 - 05 Dec 2004 12:48 GMT Hi again, Some asked to be reminded of when I am having my elbow surgery. Tomorrow is the day at 7:30 am. Like those early ones, hate sitting around a hospital all day. Should be home by noon. Everything pre-op looked good 'cept an elevated white count. Was asked a bunch of questions regarding that and what might cause it. Only thing I have is some post nasal drip, otherwise no other apparent reason. We'll see what the surgical antibiotics do for that. May be the next thing on the list to investigate. Trying to get a bunch of things done around the house that require two hands to do. Keeping Mike home from school on Mon. to help me out, after that I'm on my own during the day. Percosets should keep me entertained, mostly behind my eyelids I hope. Am planning on sleeping alot. Hope you all have a pain-free day, GaryZ

johnie - 05 Dec 2004 13:29 GMT gary, hoping you have a really good one. I know this must be interfering with your swing. With a little luck the procedure will add 30 yards to your drive. >g< Let us know how it goes.

Gwen Love - 06 Dec 2004 03:31 GMT Rose, I found it amazing how well I could use my left hand when I had my right shoulder surgery several years ago. I could eat with it, bathe, just about everything except fasten my bra. Fortunately I still had Grayson to do that then. Now when I try to use my left hand to do some of the same things, it won't work. I think that God just gives extra talents to us when we need them. Gwen

When I had my carpal tunnel surgery on my hands, I mastered it with both the left and the right hands. To me it was like learning magic tricks.

It's a talent that would really prove useful for someone like you.
ShenMei9 - 06 Dec 2004 20:21 GMT Dear misanthrope, Here's the thing-I think everything happens for a reason and you are probably being put here right now to see just how much resolute humor we can manage to send you rather than anger. This is your second atttack on Gwen so i imagine you picked out the one of the oldest members of the group thinking you could intimidate her. You don't know Gwen very well-She isn't even slightly intimidated, she just thinks the concept is funny and that you are rather sad. Personally, I will put you on my prayer list and thank God for giving me so many opportunities this season.

Squirrely - 09 Dec 2004 07:14 GMT Can't remember if I answer this one yet or not. I am also praying for these people too.
Gwen is a really sweet and caring person and doesn't need this kind of behavior going on.
Gwen I want you to know that I care about you and nothing anyone says will change my opinion of you at all. TLC and hugs coming your way.

Prayers > that all went smoothly. > Duckie hi, surgery at 7:30 and was home by 10:15! had a nerve block and mild general. had my choice from the get go and we decided if the block didn't take, we would go the other route (or some combination therof.) she tried the block 3x's and the next an last thing i heard was we'll do a general. i tried to warn her i've had trouble with them in the past. i thnk i'm just slow to react to them as i could not feel or move my fingers 'till about 3pm. very weird to say the least. my arm pit hurts more than my arm right now from those attempts! have been taking the percocets at half strength so far, but i can see bumping it up soon. first follow-up on thurs morn. thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. i know they were a big help. mike will go back to school tomorrow and i will be ok. i guided him through supper, lemon garlic pork roast, baked tater and salad. very good indeed. will keep in touch whenever my vision isn't double from the pain meds! lol gary z (who is caps challenged right now)
johnie - 07 Dec 2004 00:08 GMT wow, that was fast. It must have gone well for you to get in and out that quickly. Glad to read you in such good spirits.

Caroline Marold - 07 Dec 2004 17:45 GMT Ouch to the armpit. Bet that will be gorgeous shades of yellow, black and blue for awhile. Wow, on Mike's dinner prep. I don't cook and that sounds complicated. Thank goodness John likes to cook or there would be a his and her jar of peanut butter... Heal and be careful with those meds. After my knee I put John in charge of them cause I couldn't remember whether I had taken them or not. They were in a punch out cardboard thing and John took to writing the date and time next to the last empty slot. That way he could prove to me when the last one entered my body. lol Duckie

Wow, on Mike's [quoted text clipped - 8 lines] > prove to me when the last one entered my body. lol > Duckie actually it was a pretty easy meal. the roast was premarinated when bought so it just pops in the oven along with the potato. poke it with a meat thermometer after an hour and then periodically until it is done. viola! my arm is loud and clear when it's time for another pain pill!! every 4 hours, almost to the minute. lol Only problem i have with the meds is they make itch alot. hospital follow-up call insisted i let the surgeon know about it. i'm waiting on a return call now. i don't think it's a big, big deal but she was insistent.actually, second problem from the meds is need of a stool softener of sorts. no prunes!!! lol will ask about that too when i hear from them. garyz
