Well there is good news and bad news--I went to see my RD yesterday and he
said that my RA is doing fine--and my bloodwork is good--no more elevated
liver enzymes and anemia is stable--BUT I have what 75% of his patients who
lived through the hurricanes have--which is tendonitis and bursitis in
shoulders and knees from all the overactivity that went with hurricane prep
and clean up which is causing the pain and restless sleep and fatigue and
etc and etc--he said I am to stop repetitive motion, stay off the computer,
stop swimming, no reaching, no overhead stuff--no excessive walking,
standing etc--he injected my shoulders and will inject my knees in 2
weeks--I am icing and being a good girl--as I am tired of the numbness and
pain and fatigue and all such like stuff--still on high pred--and no
tapering yet--so have a lovely thanksgiving and prayers for all who need
and --I could use a bite of that Toblerone--my fav!!  (I have not as yet
inspected that and so it is illegal chocolate, so forward it to me post
haste!!)

Hi Alix,,,,  Been there done that.   You are lucky that you do not have to
wait longer between the sets of shots.   The steroid stays in the shoulders
better then in the knees and is not driven out so fast.   When you get your
knees, try to use them as little as possible for awhile.  Have times where
your legs are raised in a neutral position,,, not elevated higher than your
body....
Then there is a small note for those people around you for awhile
after getting this amount of steroid in the system.   The person you used to
know will return but you may have bruises around your head and shoulders
from this person.   You may find her asleep at strange times and awake it
seems forever.  Your statis as a valued person will return with time.

{{{{Alix}}}}  I understand the tendonitis/shoulder thing.  Give
yourself a good rest...things eventually get done.

((((Alix))))

Can commiserate about bursitis to a point. I'm sorry yours is so systemic. I
hope you get back to your old self soon. Don't you have several animals to
care for as well as children? IIRC Michealle (I always murder her name) is
still in recovery herself, no?

I will keep my fingers crossed for you and your whole family and hope the
healing is swift and complete.

Hugs,

well, we will miss you, but if the rest brings you relief, it will be worth
it.  Take that stuff about relaxing seriously though and let other people
help you with the holiday preparations!  praying that the injections and ice
and rest kick in quickly.

Wishing you the best and a quick recovery Alix,

I know how the shoulder stuff is. I feel for you and will keep thinking
about you and missing you while you are offline.

I have a feeling I should do the same thing for my shoulder, upper back and
collar bone stuff. But I guess I am too stubborn to get off the puter. It is
my life.

Love and hugs to all
Good thoughts coming your way too.

About that Toblerone (crinkle) I would send some but (nibble) it seems to
have vanished (yum).  Not sure how that happened  :-p

In mid-December of 2000, after a busy weekend of wrapping cedars, and
putting up Christmas lights, my right knee was swollen and painful - so much
so that I was walking with a limp. I had obviously overdone it on the
weekend or somehow put some stress on my knee.

When this condition refused to get better on its own, I visited my doctor
immediately after Christmas. He took one look and told me that I have
osteoarthritis. Being a reasonably active fifty-seven-year-old who did lots
of walking to keep in shape, I was somewhat in denial. My doctor sent me for
x-rays to confirm his diagnosis.

Ten days later, I was back to get the bad news. "It is most important that
you keep active," cautioned my doctor as he started writing a prescription.
"Not much modern medicine can do for arthritis, except to control the
swelling and the pain."

"Hold it on the prescription doc" I said. "If it is all right with you, I am
going to treat it with noni juice."

Incredulously, he asked, "What the heck is that?" When I told him, he simply
said that it sounded like a fruit juice to him and that it should be
harmless - so go ahead.

Having been given this green light, I immediately embarked on my own course
of treatment: anywhere from four to six ounces of noni juice per day, plus
Joint Extract.

About four months later, I was back in my doctor's office with a list of
health-related issues that were much improved over my last visit. At the top
of the list was osteoarthritis. I was claiming 90% victory over this
condition. The reason it was 90% and not 100% was I could still feel a
slight surge of pain when going up and down stairs, and I still couldn't
kneel on my right knee. However, I was walking as long and as far as I
wanted without any discomfort or any after effects.

I noted other improvements, as well. I was enjoying better digestion, more
energy, acid reflux was under control, athlete's foot problem all but gone,
and a winter skin condition did not return. At the top of my wife's list,
was the fact that after a couple of months on noni, my snoring had all but
ceased.

As we introduced noni to others, the stories grew and grew: a thyroid
condition gone, asthma and allergy sufferers found relief, a daily headache
problem after 15 years of suffering was gone, long term constipation problem
gone, increased libido commented one senior citizen, relief from spinal
stenosis (a painful lower back ailment), better vision, acne control,
normalized cholesterol levels, controlled high blood pressure - and on and
on. Almost universally, people have found increased energy, better quality
sleep, much better regularity, and even better mental awareness.

After some 10 months on 'the juice', my victory over osteoarthritis was
100% -- and continues to this date - some 20 months later.

Whether you suffer from a health challenge, or you simply wish to maintain
your good health, noni is for you.

This needs developing as a theme.

"Save the Nonies!"

"Appeal to the UN to save the Nonies from exploitation!"

"Campaign to save Nonies from extinction!"

etc. etc.

You're on to something here... ;)
