Hi--
Is anyone taking Etodolac?.
My Doctor took me off Vioxx, adding that there is too much uncertainty with
Cox-2 type medicines right now. So there will be no prescribing of Celebrex
or Bextra.

AT first, Bomic (sp?) was going to be prescribed, but then a change came to
Etodolac. I cannot determine why it was changed. It may be side effects, or
a problem with compatibility because I take many other medicines. I asked,
but didn't really get any answer. "Course now, with all the Cox-2 stuff, who
wouldn't be cautious.

I'm looking for info, if anyone is on it, or was on it, and any info that
may be helpful. Since I am Diabetic type 2 plus insulin, plus severe DDD,
plus strokes and heart attacks, plus other stuff, I want to hear other
people's experiences.

I'm not looking for someone to "prescribe", but rather, uselul info and
experiences, so I can develop a well balanced overview.

Thanks!
Ron

Etodolac is lodine a common NSAID.

I would imagine that you mean mobic, ad drug similar to vioxx and
celebrex.  Another post suggests that mobic subsstantially increases
the risk of cardiac problems.

I would think that lodine is as safe as any of the other NSAIDs. Watch
out for signs of gastric problems. That is a problem with many, if not
most, of the traditional NSAIDs. Vioxx etc offered some protection but
unfortunately caused other serious problems.

Etodolac aka Lodine.  Cheap,  pretty easy on the tummy (under normal
conditions but what's normal)
Mobic must have been the other med you used.
I'm using Bextra right now.  Since all nsaids inhibit cox 1 and 2, I'm not
worried.  My blood pressure is fine and that's where the problems have been.
Aspirin kills more people annually yet it's still on the market.

I've been on Etodolac for almost a year. It works pretty good for me, and
Cox-inhibitors never did anything for me. I've taken: Celebrex, Vioxx,
Bextra, Naprosyn, and a few others. Etodolac is the easiest on my stomach,
and that's saying something. I can throw up at the drop of a hat-- no
kidding. As for pain relief, I really like Etodolac. I think it's the best
NSAID I've been on so far.

Thanks all, for your replies.

Ashley, it gives me hope, because your reply is so positive, and you have
had good results, especially the pain relief.

Thanks again!

LOL, I'm glad to help! You can always tell if I'm doing well based on how
often I post/reply on here. Right now I'm neck-deep in finals. BAH!
