First let me say, I do not own any stock nor will profit from the sell
of
these shoes mentioned in this post...  just want to know if anyone
else has tried them... in fact, i am NOT mentioning the name of them
for this purpose...
If someone asks me the name, I will post it later....

Theres a new little shop opened in my hometown- and they sell
these new shoes w/ a SPRING-COIL thing on the heel.

These shoes look ridiculous - and I have seen a few people in town
wearing them. Mostly people that work standing all day.

They are expensive too.... but if I hadnt bought the last
2 prs of Birkenstocks
I could have these spring shoes.

I swear My Birkies do not
help my feet- but I DO have a VERY HIGH ARCH.

I have been thinking to stop in one day and try on the spring coil
shoes-
and I did w/ my teenage niece Thursday.

These shoes felt like I was Walking on AIR.

Hubby said he might be me a pr for Christmas :-))

But I'm afraid I wouldnt ever wear my other shoes again! haha
And you know how we ladies are w/ our shoes -
(I hate stereotypes but this one seems to be true for me)

The ONLY drawback is that the shop owner said the shoes do not
come in Wide - but that they stretch them. I dont know how well that
would work for me.

Thanks for being here- I do not get here often as I have dry eye
syndrome,
arthur in neck / lumbar and trigger pts in upper back- and sore
shoulders.
that;s enough comnplainin' for today.

Take care everyone!
Kim

P.S. Wonder why it is so difficult for me to find my original post
when
I post thru GOOGLE ??   My current ISP does not support newsgroups
thru
Outlook Express.

Kim,
we had someone post about those shoes a few years ago and since I am a shoe
fanatic, I reserched them.  There have actually been instances where people
were injured wearing them.  I think if you are very fit and have no issues with
skelatal stability, they would work better than for people who have any
difficulty with mobility.

they are radically expensive-can you return them if they don't work?

Kim - Did you know that the Birkenstock company can re-make your birk
insoles to accommodate a high arch?  If you go to the website, you will find
instructions on this. I believe you call them and they send you a box to
stand in. Then you send them your birks, the box with the imprint of your
foot and around $160 dollars. They will then fit your high arch.  If you
don't find anything on the birk website, try www.naot.com.  They might be
the company that does it actually. Can't remember.  They make custom insoles
for some of their shoes as well. And you can have your choice of about 22
pairs of sandals at that!  One pair of expensive insoles and a slew of shoes
to put them into. Of course, I think their sneakers are ugly but the other
shoes are very nice.  I'm waiting for my NAOT's to come in. My insoles were
wonderful but they sent the wrong size/color sandal with them!  So I'm still
waiting. I was very impressed with the quality and look of the sandal. It
looked much classier that the pictures show. They are not cheap. But I think
of it as I would glasses for my feet.

I can't wear Birks because of the negative heel cup, but this summer I
bought a pair of Mephisto sandals whch, are comfortable allbeit very
expensive.
The surgeon I saw recommended that I get a rocker sole which is
rounded and it helps people whose ankles do not have much ROM. I don;t
know of anyone who has these. No one on the group has ever mentioned
such a modification.
The spring heels actually scare me. Although they may give one a
lighter step I think that it would be very easy to turn an ankle, or
even catch that apparatus on something and trip. I don;t think they
are the shoe for me.

My worry now is not so much shoes as boots. Because of my leg length
discrepancy I need a one inch addition to the bottom of one shoe. With
boots I can not add this because you need a better proprioceptive
sense of where your foot is in space. You need to feel the ground in a
sence to determine if it is slippery etc. If someone knows a good
brand of boots with a wide  toe box, that has some degree of traction
I would love to hear it.

I hope I am not hijacking your thread, Dawn.

Birkenstock has a line of shoes with high arches.  Also, it may be
worth your time to contact Birkenstock and see if they can help you
out with the problem with the arches.  There's also a site called
Zappos.com that you can order Birks from or hundreds of other brands
and if the shoes don't fit, they pay for the return shipping.  They
also run specials quite frequently when there's free shipping.  If
there are any shoes you'd like to try, that's a great place to look.
Their prices aren't too bad either.  Just a suggestion.

I found this website this summer as well. I see they carry PW Minor
which is a brand  recommended for problem feet, as well as some other
brands. I bought a pairfrom this company but have not yet tried them
because they do not have the lift.

I am in no way associated with this company and don't necessarily
recommend that you purchase from them, but rather see what brands are
out there. The info regarding fitting shoes is good.
