Moving.  Interesting word.  Moving right along, moving day, let's get
moving.

I'm talking about packing up stuff to move from this house to an
apartment next week.  And, because of difficulty 'moving' various and
sundry body parts I'm having a hard time with the 'let's get moving' part.

I set myself teeny weeny goals, and fall far short.  Had to sleep on the
couch three nights cuz I couldn't finish the stuff I loaded onto the bed
so I could sort through w/out bending.

My husband thinks he's sleeping with the file cabinet.  Some fantasy!

Anyway, everything hurts but I get to sleep in my bed tonight, so maybe
I'll be able to get moving a little quicker in the morning.

If you see me posting or emailing much in the next week or so, please
remind me to quit stalling & get moving!

I feel for ya, Denise.  When we moved from Hawaii to Arizona, my husband
was working in Alaska and my oldest was away at college, so it was just
me and my 13 year old.

I couldn't have done it without a fistful of cortisone and narcotics
every day LOL!!!

Good luck!

Thanks.  I'm considering calling my dr to ask for some vicodin to get me
through.  At least with all the additional activity I'm finding out just
which pain, etc. the Neurontin does and does not help.  ;)

I made it through our last move only because of pred and Vicodin.  I tried to
do it without pred, but hit a major wall one afternoon and turned to that
litle bottle.  Took me 6 weeks to get off it as so much else kept happening,
but I am now pred-free again.  It was well worth it to get through that move
without dropping dead in pain.

Well, I got the Vicodin, just in time.  I managed to fall again, and
hurt from hip to ankle.  Poor me!  LOL  This was one of those tricky,
slow motion mishaps.  The family got together at my oldest daughter's
house yesterday to see my kid brother's new baby.  Due to a shortage of
chairs, I decided to sit on my mom's walker.  Unfortunately, hardwood
floors make brakes ineffective, so when I bumped the walker it skidded
away from me.  I fought hard, and staggered backwards - bumping it again
with same results - and finally I lost the battle.  Banged my hip on the
crossbar, which deflected the angle of fall, which caused me to lose the
paper plate, which flew up in the air and arced nicely to dump the food
immediately next to my half-turned body.

I was very sad about the food.  Chicken marsala, garlic bread,
tortellini and salad.

Everyone watched it happen, and said they couldn't move fast enough, as
it looked like I'd caught myself.  My brother said the look on my face
gave no clue to the urgency of the situation, like I was saying 'this is
fine, nothing out of the ordinary.'  ;)

True, true, but I wish someone had caught the plate.  (The fall that
resulted in knee surgery I did manage to save my pot pie.) I had to lie
on my side until the food was cleaned up.  At least I had handed my
drink to my mom before I tried to sit down!

luv&stiffer,
Denise

Probably nothing new (except the bruises) - just woke up the sleeping
dragons.  Where's a knight in shining armor when you need one?  ;)

Denise, does your mom's walker have a seat with it? Grayson's would not have
been stable enough to sit on.  So sorry for the injury (and the loss of
food).

Oy!  (((((((((Denise))))))) (gentle hugs, that is)

My husband once fell down the stairs on a dive boat and misguidedly
sacrificed himself to avoid breaking the dishes he was carrying.  He a dozen
years of rib pain after that.  So, no matter how good the food is, don't
sacrifice your body to save it, ok?

I hope the bruises are too, too bad.

Thanks, Nann, for the gentle hugs.  Would you believe I fell out of bed
yesterday morning?  LOL  Hurt the other hip, so now I have a matched
set.  <G>

another slap Denise, you are not suppose to be falling. No more falling do
you hear me.

Please take care and be careful.

Careful Denise -- your face is going to be hurting as
much as your hips.
Feel better soon

Hang in there, Denise! I feel for you, though...I hate moving and hope to
live in this house until I die and someone else can go through all my stuff
and deal with it.lol

LOL  My mom is working (slowly) on getting rid of some of the extraneous
stuff in her little apartment so my brothers and I won't have to deal
with so much.  However, what she thinks of as necessities and what my
brothers think are two entirely different propositions.

My husband thought that everything still left in the storage unit -
where it's been for two years - came under the heading of 'extraneous.'
He forgot all the grumbling I've done about my most precious
possessions being inaccessible.

LOL  Not a bad thing to be able to overlook, huh?  The grumbling, I mean.
