In response to another post I have seen new information and strong
recommendation for ASU supplement oon Dr. Theo's web sight. I decided to
give it a go and will try to keep you informed as to how it goes for me. As
I reported not long ago on an update, my lumbar is trashed and getting
worse. Hopefully, this will help. I'm not going to heavily invest in this
stuff but will give it a shot. I ordered the combined asu/gs/c.
Wish me hope.
In other matters, son has been banned from the computers at home 'till
further notice. I may actually get a phone call once in a while again! Got a
letter form the school reporting his lack of turning in assignments. While
this has only severly affected his grade in Language Arts, it has brought
his others down. My issue with him as he has daily assured me his work was
being completed as he participated in his on-line gaming and chatting.
Now he is scrambling for compromise of some sort. I think I'll let him hang
for a while. :-)
Had liver panel done today and should have the results in a week or so. Am
thinking if my cholesteral is still down (145) last check, I'm going to
consult about dropping that with my m.d. and see how it goes. Dropped my
zyrtec and provigil. Allergy season is done and the provigil made me too
wired and uncomfortable. I feel much more relaxed these past few days.
Hope you all have a pain free day,

Gary,
I cannot recommend ASU more highly.  I am actually negotiating with them on a
wholesale price so i can have it on hand for my patients.  When that happens, I
will let you know so you can get it at my costs.

Gaming is unfortunately very addictive for all the kids, it seemss.  Bob really
had to decided after getting very involved with final fantasy, to give up the
game or to give up me paying for his college tuition as his last semester
grades were B's instead of A's.

He literally went through withdrawals for a few weeks.

Glad things are going well for you healthwise-

Wow is Bobbie in college!!
Tell Gary and Melinda: tell them that computer game
stuff is really addicting. I have the same problem and
don't have grades to worry over. Withdrawal is an
understatement.

Hmmmm,
seems I should read my own posts before sending them!! lol
The following thoughts were on stopping lipitor for awhile. I know they
consider it a lifelong maintenance drug.

I am on it to drive the LDL further south in a hurry.
Drop 50 points on the LDL since June but it was still
over 150. I wanted it lower than that before the knee
surgery -- so with diet and the drug -- hoping that is
much lower. Once my knee is stabilized, my PCP and I
will take a look at where I am and how well South Beach
is holding me. South Beach and I are working like a
well oiled machine. Don't think of it as diet anymore
just how I eat.
Let me know how your experiment goes on stopping Lipitor.

Good plan.
I think *I* should be banned from the computer until I'm all moved, but
I'd have to be banned from the phone, too.  LOL

Meds can sure be a trade off, huh.

Well, I didn't have anything to say, but I said it anyway.  ;)

Check out Dr. theos sight for a full rundown. Supposed to be a stronger
preventative and builder of cartilage. Used under rx in France for O
A for the past 15 yrs. Am not recommending, only trying.

Diane,
Google ASU just for ASA.  I have made several posts about it.  It is an
extrordinary antiinflammatory with no side effects and works unlike any
supplement I have ever tried.  I would think that with all of the problems with
the cox-2's it would be something for people to look into as a substitute
NSAID.  Trouble is it is really expensive and dr. Theo really has the only game
in town so far.  I have found them to be reluctant to sell at a wholesale
price.  It is one of those things that just costs too much for me to give it to
my homeless patients.

Had a talk with them today and the most they are willing to wholesale it is
25%.  Oh well, it is truly a remarkable product-

Gary - I had that problem with Nick in the 10th grade. We actually wrote out
a contract. He wasn't allowed to go online on school nites unless for
homework. Then weekend time was dependent on him bringing  home a end of the
week progress report. Each teacher would fill in the school provided form
showing homework completed or not and any test grades for the week. The
contract spelled out the rewards and consequences. It set grade limits as
well. Anything under a C was no gaming time at all. An A was so many hours
etc. Not turning in homework = no computer time.  It worked. I made it very
ridged and of course, he wanted to negotiate the contract. We printed it out
and both of us signed it. It worked. His grades came up immediately. Oh, and
not bringing the progress report home....well, that only happened the first
week. No report = no computer.  Hope this helps!

Thanks Diane,
I'll see if we can't work something out in that vein. Last night he didn't
bring his spelling assignment home again. This was after the first night.
Now some of this I can accredit to his ADD, but he can certainly remember
things important to him!! I am setting a meeting with his teachers to see
what we can work out. Last year about half of them would send me weekly
info. That was better than none and it did help, but not entirely.

What grade is he in?  I''m thinking middle school?  My memory is so bad!  My
son was never formally dx with ADD but there are some similarities.  He's a
senior now and still can't remember to bring things home.  In fact, I left
it up to him to make his appt to get his driver's license and he kept
forgetting to call for 5 months! To this day, he forgets things. We work on
it daily it seems. We just went thru a three wee wait for a form for his Dad
to be in a fund raiser golf tournement  ARGGGGG!  Never did bring it home.
Coach would forget, he would remember, and vice versa for three weeks!
Writing it on the back of his hand, as much as I hate for him to do that,
works really well. It's the grown up version of pinning a note to his shirt!
LOL

Your memory is quite good Diane! 8th grade to be exact. I never do see most
of the papers handed out. The one for the football banquet was kinda
important. Finally called the school. Found out I was to bring main course
for 8-10 people, serving utrensils, and dessert. I'm not the only single
working parent. There was a lot of Walmart chicken there!! :-)

And I'd bet a lot of brownies for dessert!

Gary, I hope this works for you. I will be praying that it does.

I hope things work out with your son too that he does his school work.

Take care and know I am thinking of you.
