I know several others here are working the South Beach diet. I'm going thru
a phase of the blahs and could use a few new ideas.
Thank you Duckie for the frozen raspberries in the oatmeal idea. Tried it
the morning and pleasantly surprised to find that the frozen berries are
more intensely flavored than the fresh ones I buy sometimes. That will
definitely be a part of my cool weather mornings.
And as an aside, it is raining just a bit here. For the first time since
probably April. Thank you God. Especially as the air had been getting
really dirty between the wildfires and the harvesters.
The best new thing I tried this past week was a really easy version of Black
Bean Soup.
Take a can of Black Refried Beans, add enough chicken broth to get the right
consistency, season and heat to a simmer. I added a spoonful of sherry,
salt and pepper. Serve with a spoonful of light sour cream in the center
and a spoonful of salsa. Serves two.

Tried the first chocolate cake -- John says it is
edible but I tastes like flour to me. I have got ideas
on how to alter and try again.
I printed out their White bean soup and since the
weather is at this moment in the 40's [high expected in
the mid 50's]that soup sounded good.
The raspberries are the best. Don't bother with
strawberries [no flavor] or peaches [less than no flavor].

I've got the blahs too. I have been eating eggs for breakfast (which I love,
but enough already...) I did the oatmeal with frozen blueberries this morning
and it was fantastic! Can't wait till breakfast tomorrow ;)

Yum... me too. They are my favorite of all foods. Gotta be frozen, though.
Straight from the freezer, not thawed.
