How could you not want him!  What a pretty dog he is going to be.

Names?  Maybe Lightning would go with Keeper.

And off topic but related to the post about your granddaughter.  Two of my
Grandsons have hazel eyes.  Before that I was the only one in my family with
noticeable hazel eyes.  My dad's were, but were so light there looked blue
most of the time while mine are mostly dark green.  So yes they have "my"
eyes.  It was most considerate of my daughter as this only happened because
she married men with hazel eyes - twice.  (She's adopted)

He is absolutely beautiful.  I would like to get my arms around him and
cuddle. Kind of reminds me of the full size collie I had years ago.  My
pets have all had human names (Sally, Cindy, Margaret (Maggie), and Meg
etc etc).  I kind of like the regal sounding british, Nigel or maybe
Lighter, to go with Keeper, or maybe Gregor or Liam, or Max.  Now I'm
feeling envious of having puppy love and puppy breath around again.

You know diane, sometimes a gal just has to do what she has to do and to heck
with everyone else.  And the new little tyke is adorable.

Diane,

What a beautiful puppy!   Bet Keeper is going to love having a playmate
around to get into things with.<g>

As far as names go, my vote is for either Shadow or Midnight.   Shadow
would be keeping with a name from one of your trilogy books, but I like
the name Midnight as well!

Enjoy that new puppy, and of course we are going to want to hear how
things go with 2 dogs in the house!!!

do----try sitting with the sweet baby in your lap and ask him what he wants

My daughter gave me a dog (not a puppy). Didn't have to housebreak
him. :) Did have to train to walk on a leash. He was formerly a yard
dog but I gots no yard. :(

That puppy is a sweetie. My dad had a phrase about dogs: "They twine
themselves around your heartstrings." Looks like the twining has
begun!

That is the absolute best reason.

If he was a she, the name would be easy (what sounds better than another
Margarita?).   Can't think of a name for a male puppy, but my son says he
looks like a 'Watson'.

considering other names. when you guys have gotten new puppies, have you had
them sleep in your room right away(crated)? that's what i've done in the past,

those first few nights.

Well, that just seems cruel.  To be taken from his Mama, taken to someplace
totally new and foreign, shoved in a crate, and left in a dark room all alone?
My own personal opinion is that he should be within the sound of your voice
(speaking in a normal tone of voice), so that you can talk to him when he
cries.

nope.  the only time i used a crate was for vet appmts and leaving its door
open and comfortably cushioned, just in case the pup felt the need to
retreat from new surroundings.  my older dog took the puppies under his wing
and actually let me know when they needed to go outside.  he virtually
housebroke pups for me, in a way.  pups and older dog used to cuddle
together to sleep.

Oh Diane, he is beautiful!!  But some how Midnight doesnt seem right.  How
about the name of a character from the book, rather than from the title?
LOL  All of a sudden, looking at his face, the name HANK comes to mind.  lol
Well, maybe not Hank.  But perhaps another single syllable, masculine sounding
name.

the main character in the book i'm working on is named jack, but that doesn't
seem to work either. i agree on midnight. he will look like his father, niles,
when he grows up--kind of regal looking with a long black coat and big white
collar around his neck.
what did you name your little one again?

diane
Char - 23 Sep 2004 20:38 GMT
>what did you name your little one again?

Well, his name is Tipper.  His foster family was calling him Q tip, and I didnt
like that, so the next best choice became Tipper.

Niles does sound sort of regal doesnt it.  lol  Or at least British, which is
sometimes the same. lol  The only other name similar in feel I can think of is
Neville, but that wouldnt work, I dont think.
How about Percy?  rofl  No not that either.
Perhaps Maximillian and just call him Max?
Whatever you decide, he is gorgeous.  You can see the intelligence in his eyes.
And I think, his sweet nature too.  You may have small regrets from time to
time from doing this (getting a second dog).  But in the end, I believe you
will be happy with the decision.

jo, my breeder (who is very, very good and has been at it a long time and

Man Legally Changes His Name to 'They' With No Surname
     09-23-2004 9:48 AM

BRANSON, Mo. --  A Branson man has put a face to the anonymous
references people often make to "they" by changing his name to just that:
"They."

The former Andrew Wilson, a 43-year-old self-employed inventor, was
granted legal permission last week by a circuit judge to change his name.

     It's just They, no surname.

He also has changed his driver's license to reflect his new name.

They said he did it for humor to address the common reference to
"they."

"'They do this,' or 'They're to blame for that.' Who is this 'they'
everyone talks about? 'They' accomplish such great things. Somebody had to
take responsibility," he said.

Now, his friends are getting used to his new name.

"They call up and say, 'Is They there?'"

He acknowledged the name could drive grammarians crazy.

"Not only is he making a statement about his name, but he's messing
with the entire English language," friend Craig Erickson said.

They holds 14 patents including Ground-Effect lighting, used to create
a neon glow beneath vehicles and patented in 1987.

His newest product is "Shades Eyewear," which have a built-in visor
over each sunglass lens. The visors protect the eyes from glare without
having to wear a hat, he said.

... 3 basis hair styles:  parted, unparted, and departed.

It didn't sound that way to me at all!  Maybe 'cause that's the kind of
thing my brother would say and no one would think anything of it.  I thought
of the DC area residents I wasn't meeting quite often over the weekend.  But
there were even relatives I didn't get to see and I will have to be
apologizing to them big time over the next few days.

As I told my niece and her husband (first baby due Nov 6, a girl.) "All the
organization and planning skills you have developed over your life?  Forget

This was my thought as well. At least in the picture (besides looking
gorgeous) he looks far too intelligent and 'old-soul' like to have a typical
'doggie' name. He needs something with a bit of gravitas, but still quick
and easy to say.

What about the word for 'friend' in some other language - Amigo (Spanish);
Ami (French); Yideedee (Short i, strong accent on last syllable - slang for
friend in Hebrew. CHaver is the literal 'friend.' But it's hard to say for
those who can't do the gutteral ch which is a bit like gargling). Freund
(German). There is the Aussie - Mate.

That's the end of my knowledge. Anyone else?

Whatever you name(d) him - enjoy!

That makes perfect sense with your coffee addiction.
Get yourself some Apple Bitter cream. Paku chewed
through some computer cables before I had the cream. I
remember the day I told him to stop or I was going to
wash his mouth out with the stuff. I finally did that
by putting some on my finger, like you would finger
brush your teeth and then rubbing his gums with it.
Gawd that was awful but it worked. What is that thing
about hurting me more than him...  The next time he
came near one of the cords that I had covered with the
stuff, he caught the odor and recoiled. They sold me
the gel because they said it stuck better to cords than
any other formula and they were right.
They did get along very well. She needed mothering and
he was only to happy to help. I tried to keep them
separated in the beginning because my vet said to keep
them separate for a week but Paku really wanted her and
she needed him. I was right there hovering. She arrived
about 3 am if I remember correctly. I put her in the
pet tent he was raised in but I slept in the room with
her so when she cried I could murmur to her. Paku was
outside the door of that bedroom. The next morning at
dawn I let him in and hovered. After about an hour, I
opened the pet tent and let them get closer than
nose/mesh/nose. Never had a problem.
I hope Keeper is thrilled with a new playmate. You have
an enclosed backyard right? I can see then herding that
ball together.
Don't tell anyone, but sometimes I think I want
another. lol

LOL  Just wanted to tell you that 'Mr. Paku - who me!'
managed to climb on to the table I have my Mac Laptop
yesterday. He then stood way too far to one side [all
15 pounds of him] and the table dumped him and the
computer over. I still have a sore throat from the
scream that came out of my mouth. Thank goodness I am a
slob because I had a bunch of stuff hanging on the door
just behind that table and it caught it which kept
everything from hitting the floor -- most importantly
that Mac laptop.
:)
I am back to still loving him. rofl  Took me an hour to
forgive him however. He looked so pitiful, I just
couldn't help myself.

Dear Paku.

The proper way to dump a laptop in the floor is to wait until the cd drive
is open.  Then you can damage the cd drive permanently.  Only then can you
be sure mommy does really truly love you no matter what,  or not.

It happened several years ago.  Not Rosie, not sure if it was Jake or not.
I should never have left it like that, even for a few minutes.  But it was
one of "those" summers.

i once caught shasti, but not fast enough, trying to get a floppy disk to
pop out of my laptop.   the furball busted the latch spring mechanism, that
lets you put the floppy in.  had to get that fixed.  was my own dumb fault
for popping the floppies out while she was watching.  i know better with
that little lady.  she figured out how to turn the bathroom lever faucet on
to get herself a drink, too, because she paid attention to butch who used to
play with her on the sinktop when she was so fascinated with water.   but
she doesn't turn the taps back off, on either sink, the bathtub or the
bidet.  with that little fuzzface, you have got to pay attention to IF she's
paying attention.  and if she is, you're in trouble, cuz she's into
everything.  her latest trick is pulling blinds open or shut with the cords,
cuz they have just the right size plastic bell for her mouth.  yep, i
thought i was done with this kind of toddler stuff when alex grew up.LOL  i
should have named her lulu.

But a Mac CD drive does not open -- kind of like a car
CD drive. But I will keep that firmly in mind for the
other PC laptops in the house.
shaking my feathered head over that thought. lol
