Highest around here was 105.
JLee - 10 Sep 2004 05:24 GMT Yup. Wet, heavy stuff that took forever to clear off the truck this morning. Ugh. The weight broke branches from trees (which actually solved one problem for me).

JLee - 10 Sep 2004 13:29 GMT Snow. Yuk.
I'm in Edmonton, Alberta. We commonly get one small snowfall early, but not enough to stick. Then we get one right around Halloween that stays for a couple of days, and then a break until the "real" winter.
This time it showed up and stuck to the ground WAY too early. Just looked outside, though... it is gone this morning. Hope it stays that way for a while.
Want some?

The door from the waiting room to the doorway was open and the waiting room is small and narrow. Next day, at a ladies Bible study, the teacher couldn't get the a/c to work so opened the windows. Not as bad but nearly. Both times I felt better really quick once I was under a/c (first time not until I got home, second time when I got in my friend's car).
Today was just right. I'm in South Jersey.

There were 3 council members indicted in the strip club bribery case - 1 died last month apparently from GI bleeding caused by alcohol.
BTW, I lived there from 1945 and was with the PD and FD, but haven't lived in the city since 1990.
Now I'm waiting for indictments of 6 or more current and former council members and pension board members who concocted the underfunding of the pension fund. They're being investigated by the FBI, SEC and other federal and state agencies for fraud and conflict of interest, among other crimes.

Ya know, if everyone has unique seasons, we could pool them and come up with a list that may have something for everybody ;o)

Liberty port during my 2-week summer cruise, so I was able to view it from the Sound.
I spent one day exploring the waterfront, a second day in Ballard and the Space Needle

I'll be going through there on the way to Portland next summer. Last time I went we stopped for the night in Mt. Vernon, but had been looking for a place to stop for a couple of hours. We swore that next time we'd just stop in Seattle (or more likely just outside the city) and not try to drive so far. With short meal stops, it is about a 17-hour trip, and these old bones can't take 14 of those hours in one shot anymore.

The last 14 years I've been concentrating just on California - Napa Valley, Gold Country, deserts, central coast, central inland, as well as nearby "must see" places near home like the Orange Empire Trolley Museum in Perris and the Follies in Palm Springs.
I'm sure we'll get at least to Vancouver. Before dancing begins on Wednesday, we will have 2 days following the ASA get-together.
JLee - 30 Sep 2004 06:36 GMT > Joe wrote: > [quoted text clipped - 8 lines] > begins on Wednesday, we will have 2 days following the > ASA get-together. I've never seen California... but if all goes well, Monterey could be on the hit list for next fall (schedule and budget allowing). Might be a bit too far to drive, though... I may have to give in and fly (I prefer to drive and play tourist along the way).
I hope you manage to see a bit in your two free days... but you may just want to relax by that time.

Squirrely - 30 Sep 2004 07:50 GMT Firechief,
Have you been to the redwoods up towards Redding yet. That is really a nice area to see.
Also from what I heard the redwoods by Melindas are nice to see too.
I love the coast highway up toward Oregon also.
I am so dissapointed that the Ponderosa closed. We went there after getting married. I would have liked to go back there again.
Better see all you can of Calif, before some it goes floating away. ;-)

In 1956 a bunch of dad's relative visited from Florida and we took a trip up U.S. 101 to Richardson Grove in southern Humboldt County. That is on the agenda for Mary and me when we travel to Oregon next June.
I have not been north of Cottonwood on I-5, and Redding is also on the agenda for next June.

In NYC, I had to put the air conditioner on in April at times as it was so muggy I couldn't even dry my hair. Out here I don't even own an air conditioner and don't need one :)) I have nice BIG TREES and I'm on the ground floor, so my apartment stays nice and cool.
My only problem is the winter since my apartment stays cool, it's hard to heat it. Last year I didn't turn the heat on because I couldn't afford to...just used wood that friends gave me. This year, I'm hoping that we get a raise before it gets cold so that I can turn it on at least once in a while.
