Surprise!  First things first.  I stayed up all night baking you the richest,
most moist, dense chocolate cupcakes with a chocolate lavender frosting.  Girl,
you more than anyone I know, deserve cupcakes.  I'm serving these with lavender
iced tea and lavender ice cream.  There is a table with a bowl of water
decorated with rose petals.  We each have one tea candle which we will light as
we make a wish for the year to come.  These wishes will have the power of
magic.  I'll go first

I wish that embodiment gets easier for us all and that this is the magic bullet
year for autoimmune diseases.  I wish that this be a year of blessed
transformation. I wish we can all dance again.

And I am giving you roses and velvet, music and chocolate.

Happy birthday, Patty

Happy birthday Patty!

I've attempted a pumpkin cheesecake, but just in case it doesn't work out,
I've been working hard to create the perfect margarita.  Perhaps a sampler
would be in order ?

My wish is that each us us will find within ourselves the gift we have been
given to share with the world.

My gift to you is a feather...
... may you be protected from life's troubles as a feather protects against
the elements
... may all your landings be soft and light.
... may you feel the gentle breeze buoy you when you are tired
... and may you dance to the beat of nature's music.

Have a wonderful day,

Janet N.

Happy Birthday Patty.  May your day be as painfree as possible.

For your dining pleasure--DH and I have begun smoking meat this summer and have
decided to give smoked meat as Christmas gifts this year.  And so will donate a
smoked turkey to todays festivities.  I hope you enjoy it.

My wish for you is ENOUGH.

Enough adversity to appreciate the good times.  Enough sorrow to appreciate the
joy.  Enough dark days to appreciate the sunshine.
Enough time to accomplish all that you want to accomplish.  Enough strength to
bear all that you must bear.
And so much more.  But my wish for you on your birthday is that you may have
ENOUGH.

Happy birthday, Sweetie.

Happy Birthday, Patty!  I've brought some awesome Irish Soda Bread.  Smear
it with butter and jelly....mmmmmm!

I wish for you at least one friend who is as close to you as a twin.
Someone you can talk to any hour of the day or night and who truly
understands you. Someone who knows you thoroughly and loves you dearly.

For my gift, I am giving you a special treat. EMAIL me your snail mail
address so I can get it to you since it's not a cybergift.

Hugs! DeeTee

Happy Birthday Patty I have made you a dinner of fresh  salmon caught
off the coast of Oregon.  We will also have roasted new potatoes with
fresh basil and shallots.  Fresh green beans with  almonds  and  a
tossed salad and for desert chocolate covered huckleberries.

I wish you peace.  Peace in this troubled world, peace of mind from
your troubles, and peace in all your relationships. -- mz

Happy Birthday, Patty!  I've sent someone to the store for fruits &
dips, as I can't find the kitchen anymore.  <G>

My gift to you is what looks like a flattened lump of coal.  It is, and
is representative of what is happening in our lives.  Under the pressure
of everyday living we are being transformed into precious gems.  Look
around here.  See how many are already shining like diamonds?

If there's anything else you need, I wish it for you.  Now, do I get a
cupcake?

Patty, reading ahead I see that you have been wished so many good things.
The only thing I can think to add is that you always have a very special
relationship with everyone in your family; others may come and go but family
is forever.  And since I rarely cook any more I'll just bring my chocolate
pudding dish, made with instant chocolate pudding, butter cookies and Cool
Whip.  It is easy to make, but very good.  Have a wonderful day and party
heartily.

I can't bake right now for a real party, but can for a cyber party!  I'm in
the mood now to pull out that fabulous Oonagh Kater shortbread recipe.
(She's this immigrant from Glasgow we know and her shortbread is famous
throughout the Gainesville FL area.)  It's lovely and yummy and just melts on
the tongue.  And because it is for your birthday, it will have no calories or
fat just for this one day!

I wish for you continued rcovery for your mom and a year of brightness and
joy and music and magic.

Happy Birthday Patty.
I brought some wonderful smooth creamy homemade vanilla bean ice cream. If
you want we can have some fudge sauce that will not hit our hips the next
day. I call it cyber fudge sauce totally hip friendly.
I have some coronas and margaritas if anyone wants some. Oh yeah there is
some limes in the bottom of the cooler.
My birthday wish for you is for you to have everything you wish for in the
coming year. I am hoping that today you are filled with happiness and love
that will last you for another year.
Take care,

i've been busy this morning because i'm bringing your birthday breakfast,
patty:

tender and melt-in-your-mouth blueberry and creamcheese scones;

an old family recipe of hungarian palacsintas, which are like delicate
crepes made with champaign, that have our northwest touch--filled with fresh
huckleberries and huckleberry sauce;

still warm breakfast tarts made with home grown plums and pears;

and an egg souffle seasoned with herbes de provence, that has a touch of
lavender;

mimosas for your breakfast beverage, made with champaign.

my wishes for you are:  serenity when chaos tries to impose itself upon you;
hope when storms assail you; the gift of laughter when despair tries to have
its way with you;  sparkling bejeweled walls inside that cave you retreat to
and a magical saphire pool open overhead to the night's sky, reflecting the
stars; a unicorn to ride through the tempest; a fierce dragon to fight your
battles for you; an adorable puppy to remind you how much you are loved; and
the leaps of dolphin joy.

happy birthday, patty!  one of many more to come.

Happy, happy birthday dear friend!!!

If you don't mind being a bit of a guinea pig, I will bring my new
recipe for olive and herb deviled eggs that have fresh marjoram, basil,
and chives mixed in.  A very yummy twist to the traditional deviled
eggs.   I have filled the largest thermos I have with homemade curry
cream, mushroom totelloni soup, and another with homemade wild rice,
mushroom, turkey veggie soup, will bring some small open faced tuna with
artichoke hearts and black olives drizzeled with a touch of olive oil
and sprinkled with fresh herbs served on small whole wheat pita bread or
with tomatoe/basil tortilla's, will also bring along some freshly brewed
unsweetened ice tea as well as some refreshing cold crisp water to sip
on.

My wish for you, Patty, is that your heart overflows with loving family
and friends, a world filled with compassion and understanding, the
blessing of faith to lift you up and get you through the toughest of
times, lots of twinkling stars to light up the dark places we sometimes
find ourselves in, the knowledge that you are never alone in what ever
you face in this crazy world, the softest of places to lay your weary
head/body, restful/refreshing sleep each and every night,  many a
painfree day, and most of all, love!   Love so big and so great that it
defies all boundries and understanding!!!

Hugs!

There will be a lovely magical golden candle which will

Happy birthday, Patty!

All the baked goods sound great. So I'm just gonna bring homemade salsa
(what else would a nice jewish girl from NY make?). Fresh tomatos hand cut,
chopped cilantro, lime juice, garlic and salt. Very basic but incredibly
light and yummy. Oh, and bean and cheese nachos made from tortillas, not
chips.

Don't know what to wish for you; everyone has made such wonderful
wishes.....

Well, everyone should have passion in their life, whether its passion for a
cause, a belief, a person, all plus more. So I wish you passion. And pain
free times to pursue them.

Okay, my friends!
All I can say is: WOW!!!!!! You are ALL amazing and wonderful...so full of
love, compassion, joy and fun! I'm sorry I haven't responded to my b'day thread
sooner. Honestly, I've been overwhelmed. Cried many, many happy tears these
past 2 days. I've always known ASA is THE best. But, seeing it all right out
there in front of me...loving wish after loving wish...made my heart overflow.
Can't begin to explain how I feel about all of you. I love each and every one
of you from the bottom of my heart. I carry you with me in all that I do.
You're part of who I am. I'm so grateful and honored to be counted among you. A
simple thank-you doesn't really say it all. But, I think you know, don't you? :
) If these wishes are 'food' for my peace rose, it will surely be the largest
rose bush anywhere...spreading peace and love with each new bud...with each of
you, one of its' flowers.

BTW, here's a 'small' (YIKES!) recap of the menu: (I've gained 15 lbs since
yesterday and every single one of them was worth it : )  psssssst! did someone
say 'cabana boys?' <beg>

chocolate cupcakes w/chocolate-lavender icing and lavender ice cream, pumpkin
cheesecake, margaritas, English trifle, fresh salmon, roasted new potatoes,
fresh green beans, tossed salad, chocolate covered huckleberries, smoked
turkey, Irish soda bread with butter and jelly, fresh fruits and dips,
chocolate pudding, butter cookies and cool whip,Oonagh Kater's famous short
bread, homemade vanilla bean ice cream with fudge sauce, coronas, blueberry
cream cheese scones, palacsintas filled with huckleberries, plum and pear
breakfast tarts, herb seasoned egg souffle, mimosas, gift certificate to a
reducing salon ('specially from Joe <beg>) , fresh tomato/cucumber garden salad
with whole wheat bread, Breyers low fat Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream,
homemade salsa, bean and cheese nachos with tortillas, very special fruit
pizza, olive/herb deviled eggs, variety of scrumptious homemade soups, open
faced tuna sprinkled with fresh herbs on whole wheat pitas, fresh brewed ice
tea and crisp cold water.

Now.......on to what kind of people ASA are!!! What amazing wishes...such
caring and love in your hearts for all:

magic bullet year for our diseases, dancing, year of transformation, roses,
velvet, music, finding our inner gift to share with others, a feather...for
many lovely things, soft landings, gentle buoyant breezes, peace of mind, peace
in this troubled world, peace in relationships, joys outweighing pain, karaoke,
wishes for 'enough' (love this!), good surprises, a friend as close as a twin
to share all our days/nights, a flat lump of coal that transforms into a
precious gem as it takes on the pressures of everyday living, very special
relationships with all those in your family...family stays with us always,
recovery for mom, a year of brightness, joy, music and magic, a day filled with
happiness and love lasting the whole year through, serenity during chaos, hope
through storms, laughter through despair, jeweled walls and a sapphire pool in
my cave, a unicorn, a dragon, a puppy and leaps of dolphin joy, pain free days,
rest, peace, quiet, a magical golden candle that grants wishes, the ability to
always come to ASA to vent, whine and get support, smiles, hugs, laughter,
sunlight, passion, painfree times, 3 special wishes, heart overflowing with
love, world full of compassion, understanding, faith to lift us up, stars to
light up dark places, knowledge that we're never alone, refreshing sleep each
night.

I wish the same and more for all of you.
  Love, Patty
Char - 02 Sep 2004 06:06 GMT
>wishes for 'enough' (love this!),

I am glad you like it, Patty.  But I can not take credit for it.  I read this
(in a much longer version) somewhere.  Cant remember where or when, but I loved
it too.  And tho I couldnt remember nearly all of it, and not even sure what I
remembered is correct, it does get across the gist of what the longer gave in
more detail.
