It is all about the new storm headed for our friends in the south east.
Lets all in our own way have a little talk with the powers that be that this
too shall pass.   I understand that it might make its way into the gulf area
and thats OK because people in Fla. are just starting to stand up from the
last beating they took.

That would be good ness indeed.  I haven't checked the Weather Channel in a
couple of days - need to do that.  Still, those storms can take nasty turns
inmany directions when they get into the Gulf.  Time to pray for anyone in
the storm's path.

I agree with you on this. I hope the thing down grades into a tropical storm
and just gives them some rain!
It can happen.! Prayers coming from me today.

Thanks Harv - I'm actually thinking of packing a bag and heading to my
sisters. When the last storm hit so many people were out of power for so
long. We lucked out and had it back on by the next morning while others
waited almost as much as two weeks. I also ordered my pain meds which will
run out right around that time. Not taking any chances. Gonna make the
pharmacy fill them early come hell or high water. Not having stress on both
fronts if ya know what I mean.

I have been holding my breath because the rain alone
for people without a roof will be bad.  Prayers have
been on going from this quarter since I saw the thing
crossing the Atlantic.

I am soooooo scared this time. Maybe its the shere size of the storm or
maybe it's the recent experience, but my nerves are so raw. I couldn't even
sleep last night and Frances won't be here till Sun. I need to get a grip.
At least I've got 4 guys on my roof drying me in as I type.

I'm scared for everyone there too.  Who do we have in Florida besides Rosemary
and Diane?  I miss so many posts so I wonder if they are evacuating or staying.
Isn't Diane the one that has her Mom in a boarding care home?

No - I don't have anyone's phone number. You can email me yours if you want
to and I will call you after the storm and let you know. Last time we didn't
have cell phone either cause 600 towers were out of commission and the back
up system didn't work the way it was supposed to.  Hopefully the cell
companies got that figured out now.

According to the new path, we will be in the second tier of winds now, not a
direct hit, where we live. But I'm still a basket case. My head hurts, my
stomach is in a tizzy and my IBS is reacting to all this stress and I'm
crying at the drop of a hat. Imagine this conversation as my son left for
school. "The storm is making a beeline to us again. (Eyes well up). Did you
eat a banana this morning?  NO? (major tears start).  You know you need your
potassium when you are lifting weights every day.  (Major tears...) my son
says "a banana is nothing to cry over. I'll eat one ok" as he gives me a hug
and kiss and runs out the door. It's funny in retrospect.  I am trying to
calm myself down, but short of sleeping, it gets the best of me. I took a
half a ativan yesterday just to calm down but then it put me to sleep.

I guess seeing the aftermath of Charley just makes this all to real,  I'm
not all that worried about the storm itself. Our trees in the back yard took
a big hit with Charley and are still standing but have many branches that
broke off and are just hanging there. Unable to get any tree company out to
do anything about it and too high for regular folk to fix.  And this time
the wind is coming in a different direction so the house will block the
lower winds.  ut living with the aftermath of the storm is what I worry
about. I can't take heat with my MS. I'm totally heat intolerant. If the
power goes out, I'm screwed. I have three months of Enbrel and two months of
Forteo in the fridge. 7 bags of ice in the freezer. I wonder if my insurance
will replace the med if the fridge goes out too long and there is no more
ice?  Last time you had to go wait in line for ice and water each day from
the Red Cross if you didn't have power. The plan will be to go to my
sister's house in Tenn. as soon as I know what's what. But with the entire
state being impacted with this storm, there is not even a place to drive to
and say get a hotel to wait out the power problem. Ya just don't know where
that would be.

I hate the feeling of being so out of control. I can't do so much and have
to wait for my family to help. Hubby is at work today and son at school.
School is closed tomorrow and hubby's work closes at 12noon today and then
he will be home. 10 years ago I'd be taking the propane tank and filling it
myself. I'd be at Home Depot waiting online for the generator and putting it
in the truck and bringing it home myself. But with this stupid body of mine,
I can't do anything like that. So I put my pictures in plastic bags and pack
them in plastic bags just in case we loose the roof or windows. Then I wait
for someone to carry them to the car trunk.  I hate being so dependent!

And then there's the med problem. My pain med rx's are due to be refilled on
the 3rd and the 7th. Dr. writes on the rx "do not fill until .........
date." Its a state requirement to do it that way for advance written rxs.
The one for tomorrow is ok. I've already talked to the pharmacist. But the
other for the 7th....that's next tues and even though I won't need it until
the 13th I still worry that the pharmacy will out of power and I won't be
able to get it filled. And they have to order it in before he can fill it.
Because of so many robberies, the pharmacies don't stock most Class 2's.
Worry Worry Worry.  ARGGGGGGG!!

Our lovely Governor was on the TV a bit ago and basically said, stay in your
house unless you are evacuate. There is no where in the state you can go
that isn't going to be hit. He said to be prepared for 30 days of no
power/water. My husband is out looking for propane again.  Couldn't get it
yesterday.  I've got a few errands to run that hopefully will take my mind
off of things.

Has anyone gotten ahold of Susan, Larry's wife? It's probably too late to
call her. They evacuated Barefoot Bay this morning I think, at least that
was the last plan I heard.

Thanks for reading my rant. It helps to get it out.  I'll check in later as
long as I have access.

Hi Diane,,,,   I am sure that you and yours will do as well as can be done
with what is ahead of you.    Please, please do not work yourself into  I do
not know what before it even gets here.  There are a great many things in
this life that we can not control and we have to just do the best we can.
I am sorry that I can not be more help for you and yours.

I just got a notice that Saturday's opening football game at UF has been
rescheduled for mid-October.  All other weekend events have also been called
off and school is cancelled for tomorrow.  Even if it doesn't pass over
Gainesville, they don't want to have anything interferring with evacuation
efforts.  It's big and a serious threat if they called all this off at UF!
Florida's been lucky to not get one of those coast scouring storms for
several decades.  I hope and pray this one also takes a swing to affect as
few people as possible.

I hope Alix has cleared out.  It looks like Melbourne could take a hard hit.

Remember, people come in to G'ville from all over the state for games.
We used to have to plan weekend shopping around football games to avoid
getting stuck in the traffic between campus and the highway.

I can't leave till I get my pain meds filled which is tomorrow. In fact,
they won't even be in until today. I will leave after the storm if we loose
power and just keep driving north until I find somewhere with power and gas.
Roads are already filled up with those being evacuated from the coastal
communities.

Diane,
Holding you in my heart and prayers- we so often lose power in the winter when
we have our big pacific storms.  I had to get a generator.  I am fine with no
power but I always have my fridge stocked with frozen thymus to the tume of 3
or 4 thousand dollars.  I felt like my life was tied to the drugs in my freezer
and refrigerator.  I have actually wondered if my homeowner's would cover loss
of meds-I think I'll check on that today.

Hang in there which is about all you can do.  Be safe.  We'll watch your
backside

I'm sorry you're so scared. I can only imagine how you must feel. Waiting
and wondering is so hard. Know that my heart and prayers are with you and
everyone in FL. I wish there was something more I could do to help. If you
think of anything, please let me know. I'm emailing you my phone number, just
in case. God speed!

I got it Patty. Thanks. I've tucked it in my purse so I can call you
afterwards. The storm prediction has dropped a bit to the south which
changes the intensity of the wind we should receive. Heres hoping that
southern route sticks.

Having been through a couple of hurricanes I know how scared everyone in
Florida must be.  I have been glued to the weather channel and will
continue my talks with God for everyone in the path of Frances.  I
really pray that all will evacuate when asked to and not try to ride it
out.  There is nothing you can do to protect your property during the
storm and your lives are so much more important than your things.  Be
safe everybody, please.
