Congrats on the new job!  Time to look into some good undies! My son wears
something called under armour here in Florida to keep the  body cooler when
he's playing sports but I noticed on the tag an advertizement for keeping in
the body heat for cold climates. Maybe it will help you!  When I lived up
north I wore special liners in my gloves that performed a similar function.
It's been so long since I lived in a cold climate. I'm sure there are lots
of new things on the market that the northerners know about.  But check into
the under armour!

Yes! Under Armor is great in cold weather too! My boys wear it under their
baseball uniforms at the beginning of the season...in March, when the temps at
evening games can be around 35-40 degrees. It's light weight and very
effective, also wicks any perspiration away from their skin. Sure worth a try.
We buy it at our local sporting goods store.

Congrats Kate!  I know how it feels to finally get a job :)  I got my
first paycheck today from my new job. It was nice to be able to go to
the bank with a paycheck :)))

I passed my second assessment today with flying colors, so two weeks of
training are now down.  We took our first phone calls today. My customer
was from Texas, and I have to say that even though she was frustrated
(and rightfully so), she was nice about it.  We were doing the buddy
system and my buddy got a guy from Florida who was really nasty. I know
people get ticked when their bills are wrong and things happen, but why
they think they are going to feel better by blaming someone who is not
responsible for the error is beyond me. And she and I were doing
everything we could to help him. He was just a nasty human being.  So if
you have to call customer service for something, please remember that
the person on the other end of the phone is not responsible for your
problem and is doing their best to correct it :)

Hugs,
Carole :)

Thanks, Kate...it's not easy, I know.  This is a whole new ballgame for
me. I can get up in front of a room full of people and speak..I think
the largest was around 1600 and it doesn't bother me. But having to talk
one on one and solve people's problems is another story. And they expect
you to be able to do it in two minutes when their accounts are so
screwed up that you need a road map to find your away around and figure
out what the last person did to mess it up this bad.

Good Luck Kate!  What kind of job did you get? Do you start on Monday?

Hugs,
Carole :)

Working customer service or in retail can be such a pain in the neck. In
the store, I just loved the 'important' people who would come in after
other customers and announce that they 'were important and needed to be
waited on right then'. I love saying things to the group at whole like
'everyone here can see how important you are' while I roll my eyes and
then tell them I will be right with them just as soon as I wait on the
other 10 who were there first.' Sometimes you just want to say 'would
you let your children talk to you like that. But you can't.
Glad you got your first paycheck. That is nice.

Congratulations!  I just knew a good job would come along for you.  Get some
good snow tirees for the winter and put that survival gear in the trunk.  I
forget - where are you?  I get curious as a new midwesterner.

Dang, wish I could find someone from North Dakota.

With 850+ patches in the collection, not one is from there.

Oh, that's really rough winter around there!  I'm a relative easterner -
Michigan, though probably soon to be about as far north as you can get in the
lower peninsula.  (should be able to report more on that on Thursday.....)

I saw my very first tornado when I was driving through South Dakota last
year.  I also found out just how fast a Saturn goes! I decided I didn't
want to end up in Oz :))

How fast will a Saturn go?

I don't believe Mary has ever reached that limit.  <g>

...I survived another Monday.

Well, I was definitely going over 90  :)  But my Saturn got me out of
there in time, for which I was mega grateful. I heard later that day on
the news that the one that I saw had destroyed a town.

> ...I survived another Monday.

I'm still surviving at my new job. Someone mentioned insurance in
another post. I have to wait until November to get insurance, but I will
be so glad when I have coverage again. I'm just praying that I don't get
sick and that I can deal with my knee until then.

Carole :)
