ROFL! I went to TCU in Ft Worth for a few years, once upon a time. I well
remember OU/UT weekends and all the reports on the newscast of wild behavior.
LOL We stayed away from Dallas on those weekends!
(and Rhonda, I gotta side with you for now..... We Gator fans remain fond of
Bob Stoops!)

Don't ya just love Stoops? I think he was the best thing in a LONG time to
happen to OU.
I really like our QB too he is truly a sweetheart. My hubby and I met him
after he broke his knee a couple of seasons ago and he was so nice. I met
him also at media day last season and I said something like this is your
year, and it was! He won the Heisman(sp?)

Had my first sip of Dr Pepper in 1947 on a train going from NYC to California.
(With a change of trains in Chicago.) I think it was somewhere after Chicago.
Fell in love with the Dr. Didn't taste it again until I came back to NY about
15 years later. By then it was being distributed all over the country.
I always thought it tasted like carbonated prune juice. But I liked prune
juice then and I love prune Danish now.
Thanks, Harvey, for evoking that memory. We were a motley crew on that train.
At 12, I was the oldest child and was in charge of the rest of the tribe. I
remember a long stop in Salt Lake City, when I was carrying the baby and
dropped her bottle on the marble floor of the train station. No plastic baby
bottle then. The glass shattered in every direction.
Can't remember where we got another bottle. (Could it have been a Dr Pepper
bottle?) But I do remember the sight from the window of the train of the
Great Salt Lake in the early morning as we set off on the last leg of our 3-day
journey to the SF Bay Area.
Isn't memory a funny thing?

LOL, I knew someone would catch that. I think the hotel is like the
Astrodome. One of a kind when it was built and their are lots of dome
stadiums now. There are at least two stadiums with retractable roofs and
those are in Houston also. The thing is that tickets cost so much that the
common man can no longer go. Is that progress?? When I pay my taxes,,,, I
do not think so but its all about the will of the many don't ya know. So
it goes.

Hi Chief,,,, So good to see your post. Ya know, you and I got a
different virus about the same time. I got real lucky with mine and was
back on in a couple of days. Yours must of been a real SOB.
What do I know about San Antonio??? I know it is a town that is
pretty easy to get around in and I have been there twice. Soooo, I am no
where near an expert on San Antonio. I know that you will have to do the
river walk and the Alamo or you might as well not go there. LOLOL
I hope you and yours are doing well.

My wife and I visited San Antonio about 3 years ago and stayed at the
Crockett Hotel.
http://www.crocketthotel.com/
It's right behind the Alamo and about 300 yards from the River Walk area.
However the price was half what the hotels on the Walk wanted. It's not the
finest but the location was good and the price was right.

Good to see you back Chief
