Could somebody please click on this link and tell me what you see? This is
the "about us" page for the Epilepsy Foundation and I keep getting a server
error, no matter which of their pages I try to access. I'm starting to think
it's just me....I frequent their Parents forum and am sure I'm missing out
on something.:o)

It's not just you Kelly - looks like the internet gremlins have gotten to their
server. Could be no one's there on the weekends - I'd try again in the morning
and see if it's fixed.

I got the same error. Could be they are running their own server and it
crashed or they had a power outage. The other possibility is that they
are doing major changes on the site and have taken it down temporarily
(not the best way for a web designer to do things, btw, but some do it
that way).

Kelly,
I'm getting a server error message. Sorry it isn't working.
I have heard lately, and actually met one little girl that had this done,
about a procedure where they implant a magnetic thingy in the chest area.
When you have a seziure you take a small control and run it over the chest
area and it interrupts the seizure. It is really amazing.
I had some info on it. If I can locate it I will send it to you.

Thanks, Debbie, but I am already familiar with the VNS (vagus nerve
stimulator) and recently spent some time with a young woman of 15 who has
one implanted. I got to see it in use firsthand when we were sitting on the
beach and she had a complex partial mid-sentence. Her grandpa came over and
ran the magnet in front of her chest. Moments later she was back to herself
again.
Medical miracles...I hope they never stop coming.
Here is a link to a great story in the Oregonian which features Rachel's
neuro., Dr. Roberts at OHSU, assisting with some amazing surgery...

LOL!! Back atcha...you've already got the article link, are you 'wow'-ing
the VNS? It's amazing. Rachel isn't considered a candidate for any kind of
surgery yet, but it's good to know that science marches on with this kind of
thing.

It works fine for me, although I use a web browser called Mozilla, I don't
use Internet Exploiter. Don't know if that makes any difference. It says:
Introduction
The Epilepsy Foundation is a national, charitable organization, founded in
1968 as the Epilepsy Foundation of America. The only such organization
wholly dedicated to the welfare of people with epilepsy, our mission is
simple: to work for children and adults affected by seizures through
research, education, advocacy and service.
Our national office is in Landover, MD, a suburb of Washington, D.C. More
than 60 affiliated Epilepsy Foundations serve people with seizures, and
their families, in hundreds of communities nationwide. Our work is governed
by a volunteer board of directors; the scientific and medical programs are
overseen by a distinguished board of physicians and scientists. The
Foundation is a member of the National Health Council and the International
Bureau for Epilepsy.
Supported almost entirely by private donations, the Epilepsy Foundation is a
501 (c) 3 organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Service. Donations
to the Foundation and its affiliates are fully deductible as provided by law
and support the search for the cure as well as a variety of other programs,
many of which are described in this Web Site.
Best,
James

Thanks, James...it's working now for me, too. Looks like it was just down
