My doctor gave me a bunch of samples of BEXTRA for my OA--knees and hip due
primarily to too much weight.  I have been using indomethacin but it only lasts
a few hours.  Any experience with BEXTRA?? Thanks in advance. Bob.

For me personally, Bextra worked better than Vioxx or Celebrex or any
of the traditional anti-inflammatory type of medicines. I had no side
effects from it. Vioxx gave me insomnia. Celebrex worked great the
first year or two and then quit working very well. Bextra has been the
best (as far as pain relief) for me personally. Not everyone reacts
the same or receives the same benefits.  I hope it works as well for
you.

After 5 days my legs (and the rest of my body somewhat) were swollen. It
took 2 weeks to get it out of my system and get the swelling back down.

I'm on Bextra.  It works as well for me as anything else has in terms of
helping the pain.  The big advantage it has for me over Celebrex and/or Vioxx
is that it actually lasts 24 hours for me.  The others both lasted about
20-22 hours.  I took them twice/day so it didn't all wear off at once, but I
could still feel the difference.  Don't have that problme with Bextra.  No
side effects for me, but I don't have much trouble with side effects at all.

Same here, Nann. I couldn't do the Vioxx because it caused insomnia,
but the Celebrex was as you describe with not lasting the full 24
hours so having to take it twice per day. The Bextra lasts the full 24
hours for me too.

20 mg gave me bp problems (and I don't have this one) but a reduction to 10mg
is OK and helps me out.  I've used it for about two years now.

Good luck!

My son took Bextra for about 6 months for a knee injury and then surgery. It
worked great for him with no side-effects. For myself, Vioxx seems to be the
only nsaid I'm able to tolerate. Amazing how we're all so different. Hope
Bextra works for you!

One thing you'll find is that no two people respond quite the
same to anything, particularly medicine, so don't assume that
anyone else's results will tell you how it will work for you.

I take Bextra, sulfasalazine and Ultram, and together, the work
very well for me at the present time. Unfortunately, after a few
years I get used to whatever I'm on and my doc has to switch me
to something else.
