i'm doing the final final final edit on this book. (i hope).
can anyone tell me what color(s) the current mcdonald's uniforms are?
on a boat with an outboard motor, can you use the words "motor" and "engine"
interchangeably (sp?) when referring to the motor?
thank you, gang!

I believe the McDonald uniforms here in Michigan are blue. They
usually have blue pants and then blue/with white striped shirts.

they must vary because I haven't seen a real "uniform" on a mcdonald's employee
for quite a while here in ohio. polo shirts, an occasional apron and visors
and/or baseball hats are the norm around here.

My daughter manages several McDonald's here. I'll have her dad call tonight
and ask her.

I believe an outboard motor is just that -- a motor. I've never heard of an
outboard being referred to as an engine and I've been around water and boats
all my life.
Hope that helps.

I asked a friend who manages a McDonald's restaurant. She said that
each franchise can choose what color they would like. The franchise my
friend works for has forest green with yellow uniforms. Another
franchise here in town has maroon/red with white. Yet another
franchise wears blue with white. All the stores are using Polo style
shirts. It sounds like they can wear any kind of pants except blue
jeans to work. The managers can choose colors too. My friend wears
either a forest green or powder blue shirt. She can wear Polo or
button down the front. She typically wears black pants but also wears
light brown. The owner of her franchise is trying to switch over to
black pants and white shirts. Not sure if Polo or button down front.
Plus, there are bonus shirts given as awards or promoting some event
that you might see a crew member wearing.
Here are a few different McDonalds shirts on eBay. Notice the smile
one as an example of a shirt used during an advertising campaign.

I hope this helps.

On Mac's, I noticed on my recent cross country trip that they matched the
interior of the given restaurant.
Good luck!

Not sure about MacDonald's...haven't been there in ages.
As for the boat, I was always under the impression that engine referred
to a boat that had an engine below...if it's got an outboard motor, then
that is referred to as a motor, not an engine. The engine is something
that is built into the boat, and outboard motor is something that is
added on.

I'm not sure, but I think that it depends on the size of the
motor/engine. Some motors which are inside the boat are referred
to as "inboard motors". On larger craft, they are called
"engines". As an example: Navy landing craft (LCM's) are
propelled by "671 Grey Marine Diesel engines" (which refers to a
diesel engine which has 6 cylinders, each with a displacement of
71 cubic inches, and is manufactured by Grey).
One way to check this out would be to research how boats the size
you are referring to are advertised for sale on marine
distributors (that is: places which sell boats and and boating
supplies).

thanks norman. i did some research and drove myself nuts. i changed all the
"engines" in my book to "motors," and that's that! it will just have to do. . .
at least i didn't generate as many diverse answers as i did with my corvette
trunk question!
