Hey Kelly, was just sitting her thinking of you and your family tonight
and realized it has been awhile since we have had an update on Rachel as
well as yourself!   Care to share???

Hey Donna...:o)

Happily, things have been pretty quiet for us, knock wood. Since starting
Keppra Rachel has had an average of one seizure a month and the most recent
one was because she had a fever with strep. I have never liked fevers but
now I have a reason to hate them.

I have been coping with bursitis in both hips and not enjoying it much at
all. Dr. gave me the option of injections with PT to go along with them, or
a range of stretching exercises and 'walking like an English soldier' for
five minutes a day. Well, I'm a typical arthur patient, which do you think I
chose?lol  Yup, the exercises and no extra walking. I already stand at work
for many hours a day and then come home to more chores here. Dr. did
acknowledge that and once again asked if I could be doing something else for
work. Ssuuurreeee....because my high school education will get me a job just
anywhere with weekends off and the flexibility I need right now. No thanks,
I'll stay where I am until I win the lottery.

Brett's working 7 13-hour nights in row and we are now on day 4 of this.
Shortages at work due to vacations and the need for extra money are spurring
him to volunteer for overtime. It's a little much for a slightly paunchy,
almost 40 year old...even if he does think he's still 20. By the end of the
week, he'll be a blob in the recliner and we'll just step around him for a
few days until he recovers.lol

We have some fun things planned for summer and are looking forward to our
family vacation to Canada at the end of August. School has a later than
usual start this year, so Rach won't be a fourth grader until Sept. 8th and
she is so excited about a new year starting off better than the last one
did...so am I. We have great hopes that Rachel's life will be much more calm
and average than it was just a few months ago.

Thanks for asking...you are always such a doll,
Kelly C.;o)

Except for the blob thing [hehehe] and your hips, all sounds good.

Kelly,

Yikes, that hip bursitis sounds like a rough time.   Sure praying that
the exercises will do the trick, but if they don't, please don't suffer
with it --- take the injections!

Glad to hear Rachel is doing fairly well on her new meds.   Are her
seizures still coming in the early morning hours like they were before?

Glad you all will be able to take a family vacation this summer and
enjoy each others company.   How fun!!!   I will pray that NOTHING
interferes with that family vacation!!!

Hope Brett doesn't kill himself working that schedule!   Yikes, that is
a lot of hours.   I certainly understand, though, the need for the extra
money it brings.

May you all have a wonderful, carefree summer this year---you deserve it
and have earned it!

Hugs!

Yes, Ma'am. I see the RD on Monday and will have to come clean that I'm not
quite up to snuff yet. We'll see how much trouble I'm in then.:o(

Yup, the ones that she has now, with the exception of the fever ones, are
almost always in the hour or so before she wakes. Her metabolism is faster
at night (growth spurts are notorious for this) so her night time dose is
higher and later than her morning dose. The seizures that accompany fevers
can happen at any time.

Thank you...we are very excited about this time together.

Luckily, it's just for this week and things will be back to normal next
week. Our budget always suffers in summer because our daycare bill more than
doubles...and we bought a new car in February.

Thank you!
