Ok, one of my neighbors said she might have a battery to fit my watch,
so we checked and sure enough she had an extra one, so she gave it to
me. I came home, got the back off, took the old battery out and put the
new one in. I checked the watch and it was working again, YAY!!!!  Now
all I had to do was pop the back on.  WRONG!  I have tried every which
way to get that sucker back on and it just won't go (short of hitting
with a hammer, which I kind of figured would do more harm than good :)
So, does anyone know what the secret is to getting the back on?? I
thought they just clicked back in...but not this one.

Help!
Carole :)

Actually, sometimes hitting it with a hammer is the *only* way to get it
back on. Gently hitting it, with something between, like a piece of PVC the
same diameter is what we do at work. We sell and replace watch batteries and
actually have a little anvil type tool, but sometimes only the hammer and
pvc will do the trick. There is no way my thumbs could stand up to putting a
watch back in place.

My fingers weren't too happy about it, believe me. Ok, I'll give it a
try. I'll just tap gently :)  I don't want to break the watch as it was
given to me by one of my classes and I really like it :)

another option is to make the rounds of your neighbors today, find someone
with strong, healthy fingers and see if s/he can push it into place.

Make sure you've lined it up properly.  I spent nearly an hour one day
trying to get the back back on and it turned out that the windy thing had a
little cutout that needed to be lined up just right.  I lined it up and
*snap* it was on.

Good luck! DeeTee

Carole,
I'd just take it into a jeweler and have them pop it on for me.  Explain the
finger issue and they'll do it for nothing.  I always take mine to Long's drugs
to the watch department and the woman who works ther just pops the back on for
me.

I'll see if I can find someone around here who can get it back on for
me, but if not, I'll have to do that and hope they are nice and don't
charge me :)

Just a quick note, if it is a water resistant or waterproof watch,
many jewelers use a tool like a press to get it back on at the right
pressure so it seals properly.

Ah, that could be the problem. It is water resistant...I've never worn
it in the water as I have a plastic type watch for swimming. I guess
I'll have to take it to the jewelers. Right now I'm working on getting
the rent paid, so the watch will have to wait.
