Caroline Marold - 01 Jul 2004 18:07 GMT Well, I ran out of canadian bacon two days ago and yesterday didn't cook anything for lunch and I am tired. This is not good. However, I am pulling myself together and heading to the grocery to get more eggs and more CB. John fixed me a bunless hamburger last night and I perked up so must need more protein and probably would be best served with red meat. I am down 11 pounds which I think is mostly water. My breast feel lighter today which is a huge plus. They had to have weighed more than 10 pounds a piece cause I am not allowed to lift more than 10 pounds with my right hand and they were too heavy for my right hand. No - I didn't set one on a scale to see. rofl Anyway, I noticed this morning when shoving them into a bra that they were lighter. So I need the cheering section to come up with a cheer to give me some energy to actually cook a meal. Duckie

When you have the energy, make a quiche without the crust; just oil the pan, so the quiche parts don't stick. Then you can just heat up slices as you need them.

I'm so close to a really good cholesterol level, I think eliminating the eggs I've been eating will do it.
BTW, while we aren't doing a true South Beach thing here, you all are inspiring me. I've been playing tricks on Mike. Making stir fry the other day, I added tomatoes to the rice instead of the the vegetables. Made him think he was getting more rice than he was! LOL Added vegetables to couscous last night so he got a lot more veggies when he inhaled it. Got ziplock bags of cut-up broccoli, peppers and onions in the frig so I'll use them rather than being to tired or sore to cut stuff up.
And the grocery store across the street has wild salmon on a great sale this week. The freezer is filing up..........

I've never knowingly ingested egg beaters, so I don't know what the texture is. It can't hurt to give it a try, though.

Char - 02 Jul 2004 17:44 GMT >Can quiches be made with egg beaters? Absolutely! Would you be interested in a recipe to make your own egg beaters? Much cheaper way to go, and really easy. Char

Char - 03 Jul 2004 09:27 GMT OK Here is the egg substitute I promised.
1 pinch of saffron (but saffron is SOOOO expensive, I use yellow food coloring instead, as it is mainly for color) 1/4 C skim milk 1 T non-fat powdered milk 1 tsp of veg. oil 3 egg whites slightly beaten
Add saffron and non-fat milk to skim milk. Then add oil and egg whites. Mix well.
This recipe makes a single serving.(Like enough egg substitute for an omelet.) Char

I would just leave them for Mike, but as you say, cheaper is good. I know that egg beaters are not just separated eggs...
and in quiches, would you just substitute an equivalent amount of egg beaters for the eggs? We're both working on this now (it's day 3 and getting hard! LOL). having crustless quich around will help.

Char - 03 Jul 2004 09:32 GMT >though it will still pain me >to throw away part of an egg. Nann-if it was me I would use those egg yolks to make home made noodles. Then either sell them at farmers markets or the like. Or just give them away to people.> would you just substitute an equivalent amount of egg beaters
>for the eggs? The recipe makes a single serving. About 3/4 C. I would call that the equivalent of 2 eggs.

You can make a quiche with egg beaters. Use a little less milk than you might otherwise. And a little more of the filling stuff. Egg beaters are for all practical purposes colored egg whites. And cook about the same way.
To each his own but the doctor who developed SoBch claims that eggs really don't have much effect of you cholesterol, but to use egg beaters if you prefer.

> To each his own but the doctor who developed SoBch claims that eggs really > don't have much effect of you cholesterol, but to use egg beaters if you > prefer. actually, the research shows that dietary cholesterol, including but not limited eggs, isn't that much of a factor in truly high cholesterol. Mine was at that point a fewmonths ago. Apparently it's truly familial for my generation. My brother, sister and I all had our cholesterol skyrocket at about the same age. We brought mine down from really high with Lipitor. Now, my ratio is just a little bit off - at the level that diet CAN fix - so we're trying it that way for 6 months. And those oodles of eggs I'd been eating where the logical first step.

Cindy - 02 Jul 2004 05:01 GMT At first I thought you wanted a cheer to help you pick up your boobies... LOL...You know that after losing 110 lbs, Mine are quiet deflated, but you can roll them up and they still fit into my D cup bras....So they just need a little air to lighten them up...I wonder if I could put an air valve in them and then I could use Mikes compressor to just air them up... LOL..I too am rolling on the floor. Cindy

With costochondritis and other ribcage pain, wearing these DD bras can be really painful. But I'm trying to lose some weight first in case that does enough for me. With age creeping up on me though, I still think it's in my future unless my drugs get a lot better!

No - I didn't set > one on a scale to see. rofl Anyway, I noticed this morning when We can laugh, but my sister had a breast reduction done several years ago. She started at a 52HH and they brought her down to a C cup. They removed 20 pounds of breasts. She has a respiratory disease and since her surgery was so extensive, she had 2 plastic surgeons working on her at the same time to reduce the time under anesthesia. Really made a huge difference in her back problems and the ridges cut in the top of her shoulders.
Everytime I tried dieting, I would never lose in my bust until I had my stomach stapled in 1998. I lost 240 pounds and finally, FINALLY got down to normal breasts. It was nice being able to wear cute shirts for the first time since junior high. Good luck with the diet, everyone. I started to say, "keep your chins up" but that didn't sound quite right. LOL I'll be sending you all good thoughts and prayers. Mag

I think we're just laughing to try to make "light" of it (sorry - couldn't resist) I think all of us busty types can empathize. I can't imagine being your sister's size. The surgery must have been a incredible relief. It is so unimaginable that women ar out there spending thousands of dollars to get to this size. Don't they have any idea of what's in store for them?
