NOT x-rated! Get your mind out of the gutter! Now that I've got your
attention......
After reading about the compression fractures and the procedure to "restore"
normal height, I decided to see how tall I was these days. My 19 year old
niece is visiting from up north. I haven't seen her since she was 12 and I
was amazed at how tall she had grown. I guessed she was about 3 inches
taller than me. Knowing I was 5'7" tall, I said, what are you now, 5'10"?
When she insisted she was 5'7" tall, I just had to pull out the measuring
tape. You cannot believe how shocked I was to learn that I've lost 3
inches! Ironically, the other day I was wondering who was messing with my
cane and moved the pin on it -- it felt high. So now I know. 5'4" tall.
Hmmm. Hopefully the doctor will say I'm a candidate for the Kyphoplasty
procedure and it will restore my height. And end this pain.

Ouch! I've lost 1.5 inches somewhere along the line, but that's only half of
what you have lost! The really lousy part is that losing inches means you
are that much more overweight LOL That was a diet motivator for me!
I hope the procedure turns out to be a good one and that you are a candidate
for it. The end of pain and regained height are things to look forward to!

I've lost an inch in height over the years. And it did make a big
difference when working toward lowering my BMI so I could get approved
for gastric bypass surgery. That one inch height loss meant I had to
lose an extra fourteen pounds to reach their target BMI.

I can remember someone posting something similar about this some time
ago. Everyone who responded had lost an inch at least, (me for one), and
some even more than that.
As you say, three inches can be quite important, especially where weight
is concerned:)

Not knowing your age, Diane, could it be bone loss/osteoarthritis that has
caused you to lose several inches? Nanny

When I renewed my driver license in 1990, I was surprised when
the chart at the camera showed I had lost 3 inches.
Then 2 years ago I learned I has lost another 5 inches.
That's a total of 8 inches between 1977 and 2002.
