Hi all,
Visit with psych yesterday result in increasing the lexapro dosage to
20mg/day and we will see where it takes us. He didn't think loss of appetite
was a side effect of the drug, but the pharmacy sheet lists it second as a
side effect. I am off all pain meds now including neurontin. I still take a
hydrocodone in the evening at times when I need it. My head is much clearer
these days.
Finally got hold of someone at the pain clinic after trying for a week.
Wanted some questions answered regarding the nerve block at the spinal level
I'm to have on Tues. Specifically, why at the spine and not at the elbow.
They said the neurologist report came back saying possible compression at
c6-7. Now this is totally contradictory to what he told me immediately
following his exam. The report was issued 10 days after the exam and I have
to believe he screwed his report. He verbally recommended elbow surgery to
move the nerve , but made no mention of that in his report either. I called
his office on Fri and spoke to the secty. Doc was out of office on Fri and
Tues. Told her I was scheduled for a spinal procedure on Tues based on his
written report and that the report was totally opposite of what he told me.
She is trying to get him in to review his report and call me. I don't think
that is going to happen though. So I'm not sure if I should proceed or
cancel the block 'till this is cleared up. On the one hand, it probably
can't hurt anything to have the block done at the spine. On the other hand,
I don't want spinal involvement if it isn't absolutely needed.

I personally would cancel the block without first talking with that
doctor. Myself would probably take my arse to the man's office and catch
him in the hallway between patients. Did that once myself and my gut
instinct was right. Patient charts had gotten mixed up. How scary was that.
Anyway, do what you gut tells you to do. It is always the best move even
if what he finally decided for you was the spinal block -- at least you
would have confirmed it by someone other than the dragon's at the gate.
