OTP - Major Prayers Needed

Carole - 26 May 2004 20:23 GMT Well, I have gone from bad to scary. I can't tell a whole lot of people how bad things are here, so I'm going to vent and request MAJOR prayers.
I have come to the conclusion that once you are over 50 and have bookoo qualifications and experience, no one wants to hire you. I have applied for anything and everything out here and all I have gotten are little temp jobs here and there. And it's just nowhere near enough. I applied for a high school teacher's job in the subject area of my Master's degree, and I have experience teaching high school and that went to someone else. So I don't know what I'm going to do now. I'm still waiting to hear from a grammar school - that is my one hope. In the meantime, after I pay my rent next week, I will have a total of $9.00 to my name. It's not just bad anymore, it's scary. If I don't get something VERY soon, I am going to be forced to move out of my apartment. And since I have no family, I have nowhere to go. So I need some major prayers.
Thanks, Carole

[quoted text clipped - 15 lines] > Thanks, > Carole Caroline Marold - 26 May 2004 21:41 GMT Oh Carole. Almost no words to help you here. Prayers I can offer. Was going to tell you to send your address to me privately cause my friend Judy has found some tops in your size she is getting rid of and I was to pick them up on Thursday night. Shirts are about the least of your worries. Probably time you went down to apply for welfare and any other help you could get. Maybe Aim could give you direction in a new field at Starbucks. Rumor has it that they give health insurance as well as a paycheck. Prayers and hugs heading your way. Duckie

That might be a real possibility, as long as you can find a job your body can handle. It might really be worth contacting Aim to see what leads or help she can give you.

Carole - 27 May 2004 15:34 GMT Thanks Duckie...already went the welfare route last January...if you are a single woman with no children, all you get is food stamps which I've been getting. But there is nothing to help with the rest.

Nathan Engle - 27 May 2004 17:06 GMT > Brother Nate,,, huh,,, just noticed that. When did you become a brother??? > mason, elk, moose, order of whatever??? "Brother Nate" is the handle I use mainly when I'm posting in talk.politics.drugs (where I've sometimes referred to myself as a "moral wet nurse for anarchists, reprobates, and Libertarians"). It's a partial tribute to an old friend who visits college campus preaching under the name "Brother Jed". It seemed like it might fit in for that particular reply to Carole.

Most of you know that I do the website for a wonderful musician and he has found some projects for me to help with so I'll be getting additional funds. I also got a phone call from another musician who saw the website and wants me to redesign his site. So I'll be OK for another month or so :))
Thanks for all the prayers and the offers of help. You guys and gals are the best!
HUGS, Carole :) who is smiling again :)

Most of you know that I do the website for a wonderful [quoted text clipped - 9 lines] | Carole :) | who is smiling again :) Carole - 30 May 2004 00:13 GMT Thanks Gwen. I've started interviewing for teaching jobs. The one I wanted I didn't get, but I guess that's not where I was meant to be. I'm still waiting to hear on another one I went for last week.
I am in the process of getting my Washington certification, which has also proved to be a trying ordeal. I had to be fingerprinted, so fine three weeks ago and went and got fingerprinted. I got my card back on Friday stamped REJECTED. They couldn't read a couple of the prints well enough to process them, so back to the police station I went this afternoon to get them done over again. Thankfully, the policeman didn't charge me again :) He was very apologetic and really nice (kind of cute too...too young for me, but hey, I can look ;-) So I've sent the second set of prints off.
Then when I called the Educational Office said they needed official transcripts, so I wrote to all my colleges and got those. When I went to turn them in, the guy said I needed to get another form filled out as Washington requires double verification that you've been through an educational program at an accredited university, and done student teaching, etc. So I had to write to my college in NYC again and send this form to them to be filled out. Now I'm waiting for that. I honestly think getting the degree initially was easier than trying to get certified in Washington.
But I am an Aries, so I will persevere :))))

I also wish I had the faith that Mother Teresa had...but alas, I don't. So I worry....I should have learned by now that God will provide...maybe one of these days I'll get the message :-)

So, in actuality, you aren't without family if you could get help to get to Central Florida. Can ya live with gimpy crazies 'till ya get situated again? :-)

You've got them, Carole. and vent away. We had a similar situation when Mike was fired at 45 but we had my jobs at the hospital for backup and benefits as he pieced together a variety of part-time and no benefits jobs. It's a real shame that so few places recognize the value of experience and education, even if they do come in an "older" package. But we lived in a college town where underemployment is rampant. When the guy flipping burgers at Checkers might have a Masters degree, no one worries about hiring someone overqualified!

North - 27 May 2004 05:45 GMT OHHHH NOOOOOOO!!!!!! I will definitly keep ya in my prayers. I just can't imagine being sick like this, and having to worry about getting kicked out. No wait I take that back. We own our own home, have to pay property tax though. And last year we had forgotten to pay our taxes, as everyone was ill with the flu, and my hubby had an appointment, almost 2 hrs. away. Well the next day we found out from a neighbor, {they had seen in a little newspaper around here} saying that our land was for sale. Well he flew down there straight away having to pay them right up front, 400 extra dollars. So we could have become homeless, had we not had been informed right away, they would have put it up for auction . That was quite scary, not knowing if we were going to have to leave . Try not to worry things have a way of working out somehow someway. Try to Keep positive that it will work out ,

Here it is no big deal to be late with the property tax. Some of the wealthiest in the area make the list regularly. Also I'm quite sure that in California there is a provision where you can apply and not have to pay your property taxes if you are over a certain age and under a certain income. The county gets their share when you sell or die. In fact I think the way it works is the state fronts the money to the county as the taxes are due, and then they get repaid later.

We need to tough it till we absolutly can't tough it anymore. We don't want to have to do this re-pay later. That's how ya get into debt more. It's ok we will make it through. I've been through a lot in my life. I can somehow make it through.
