Has anyone heard of ABT trial studies somewhere in Pennsylvania
treating RA with a relatively new antibiotic called "Levaquin"?

I took 2 rounds of Lavaquin a couple of years ago for something not so
arthritis related. Had an allergic reaction just at the end of round
two and just got over it in the past few months. That's a very strong
antibotic. Caused me a lot of trouble. I won't be taking it again.
Funny it showed up in here to treat RA. For some it may work but not
for me.

I've been taking Levaquin off and on for 4 years for various infections.
It's a quinilone abx and related to cipro. There are quite a few class
action lawsuits due to spontaneously ruptured tendons with this medication
so I would be reluctant to take it on an ongoing basis. A twin drug raxar,
was quickly removed from approved status by the FDA for the same thing.
However, I can say while I was on Raxar, my RA was in total remission for
those 4 months.

I took it for an ear infection in January.  It was a very bad antibiotic for
me-had BP increase (I have usually low BP) and then two tacchycardia episodes.
I also had a little yeast infection with it which I have never had with
zithromax (the one I used along with minocin when I was doing ABT).

Of course everyone has a different reaction to meds  (I am deathly allergic to
cillians), so perhaps it works better for other people.

Thank you all for mentioning this. I did not know Levaquin was a relative to
Cipro. That now I know so if they say I can take that one, then I can
question them since we think I had a reaction to Avelox which is also a
relative to Cipro.

Melinda. is that what the tacchycardia came from that time with you. I don't
know why but I was thinking it was predisone. I have been thinking about you
alot lately. How are you doing?
