I saw my neuro last Thursday and she did an occipital nerve block there in
the office. It wore off in about 6 hours. She also ordered an EMG of my
ankles to rule out tarsal tunnel syndrome (like there's any doubt!).
I had a more productive visit with my RD this morning. She put me on a
dose-pack and we are probably going to be adding Arava. She wants to see
first if the dose pack takes care of the flare (not likely).
The hammer-toe deformities in my right foot have gotten a lot worse, so we
are also going to be revisiting surgery. I am going to hold off as long as
I can. You old-timers know that my left foot was a surgical disaster. I am
in no hurry to repeat that mess.
And, my sleep specialist agreed to lower the pressure on my cpap now and not
wait for the study. So I am hopeful that a good night's sleep isn't far
off.
Progress at last! So, here's my question. What should I expect with Arava?

Hi Walt, I had one really good year with Arava until my stomach got
inflamed plus a dose of acid reflux. It was time to try Enbrel then and
almost 3 good years of that.

Ps We just have to wait to see how your lower tract reacts to Arava to see
if you enjoy taking it. It did not bother me that way at all.

Can't answer your question, but can send hugs your way!

Been hard on my GI tract which finally got relief by adding Bentyl. I
take Arava in the evening with my dinner meal along with the Bentyl [IBS
drug]. Was taking it in the morning with breakfast and having explosive
diarrhea some days. That was awful but the Arava seems to be worth it.
Hope you have good luck with it.

Dale seems to be doing quite well on Arava. Very sick at the onset with the
loading dose. I had him stop for a couple of days then start again taking
it at night and that was the ticket. thanks duckie for that suggestion it
really did help. His mouth is sensative but no sores. He is using a
toothpaste that was suggested here can't remember the name right now. Spendy
though I think I paid 8 bucks for the tube. That helped too.
