Hi all, again let me express my sincere appreciation for all the
support. You people are wonderful. :) I'm in a much better place now
mentally and emotionally, and think that I'm about over the hump with
this one.
On your recommendations I spoke with my pharmacist and then with my
RD's nurse. Everything's a "go" for switching to injectible MTX, and
hopefully they'll get the prescription called in for me to pick up
tomorrow when we make our bi-weekly trip to Ironwood for shopping and
medical necessities (I'll be seeing my PCP tomorrow as well).
Plus, I've been taking Milk Thistle for my liver, which you all
recommended years ago when the enzymes were so high. And I credit
that, plus quitting drinking, for the recovery. My liver panels have
been completely normal for two years now. But I'm not taking the
maximum allowed, so I got clearance to bump that up as well to
counteract the stress from these new meds and supplements.
And we've upped my Prednisone to 5 mg. per day for awhile to give the
MTX a chance to kick in and give me a break from the inflammation and
pain. It's made a difference already. I've always responded quite
well to steroids, and just hate not being able to use higher doses to
treat the RA instead of this dreadful cocktail that's draining my
health and my budget. :-/
Today for the first time the temps hit 70F here, and I forced myself
to get outside for a walk in the woods. It was slow going due to
what's going on with my feet and ankles, but it did a world of good to
blow the stink off me and the fuzziness out of my brain. <grin>
So that's where things are right now. I'm feeling good enough that
the next three months on MTX isn't as dreadful in the prospect now.
Now all I have to do is find some kind of haircut to mask the frigging
hair loss that's happening....lol!

Grape Seed Extract!!! Yet one other thing to spend your money on, and
it ain't cheap. But, it works. I dunno about you, but when it comes to
my hair, I'm rather vain.

So glad to hear the good news! As for the haircut, I saw a lady the other
day with thinning hair (mine is on the way) and she had it cut real short
and kinda spiked on top. It really gave it the look of having more and
thicker hair. I was thinking that would be a good one for me as time
marches on. My hair is already short. Oh, her hair was blonde and it
looked good.

Kitt, so glad you're able to get the injectable so quickly. Maybe with all
that you are doing now, you will soon be much better. Pray so.

Good for you.
I am a firm believer in getting out into the sunshine to make yourself
feel better- even if it is just to gop and sit out in a sunny spot for
15 mins. and commune with nature. Glad you made the walk even though
it was painful.
You don't sound so desperate. Hope fully the pred will kick that RA in
the butt.

I am so glad you feel better!
and grapeseed extract works very well as far as thinning hair...and I
wore a "spike" style haircut for years <g>
and when I have the revision done, I'm going back to it--way easy on
the arms, can let it air dry, and be as wild or sedate as you want!

Donnah, how do you get it to spike & air dry?

When I had surgery, I had my stylist cut my hair into short spikes and tiger
stripe it. Being more than half dead is no reason to blend into the
scenery.

LOL...I just had mine "shaped up" today to get ready for the revision.
Then after Mike's ordination, I'll get the real spike along with the
highlights...didn't think my conservative son would appreciate a wild
woman right now <g>

That would be grapeseed extract to help stop the hair loss. The other
thing is that it is spring and you might just be shedding a bit. The
grapeseed extract will help if it turns out to be the drugs causing it.
