Well, to day was the 2nd trx on the subq hyperbaric O2 threapy...it is
not a hard thing to do, but 90 minutes not being able to pee is at times
a problem.LOL  The nurse who came to show me the procedure was a
sweetie, and compassionate, so that was a good thing.  I have to do
trx's for 90 min, four days in a row and then rest the area for 3 days.
This procedure is not like the old hyperbaric tubes that I was fimilar
with during my nursing career.  The old one, get the O2 to the tissues
via the vessels being saturated with the 02, that is forced in by all
the pressure in the tube. If you have vasular problems, poor circulation
etc. the O2 may never get there especially in the lower extremites.
With this procedure the O2 is applied right to the spot/spots via a big
plastic boot (my problem is on the heel) there is a big rim of adhesive
around the top that is sealed up and the O2 in hooked up to the top of
the boot.  All oil and petroleum products must be washed away ( can
cause the skin to burn) and normal saline applied to the areas that they
want to trx.  They took a series of pic's for docum. and will be
returning in 3 wks for more.  The company that does this is very
intersted in reaseach and further development.  The best part is : the
company gives each foot doc a free gratis entire program for one
patient....and that was ME!!   They are given to pt's that don't have
much or no insurance, and are in the crapper as far as money is
concerned)  I have no idea of how much this would cost the average bear
or insurance co.  I will let ya all know as soon as I find out.
The fluids in my ankles and feet have decreased greatly...in fact the
Rt one is back to normal, the Lt one is way down, but still gets
somewhat swollen when it is in a dependent postion for to long....have
gotten to decrease the am't  of diuretics that I was taken...another
good thing!  Pain in the heel remains at a 6-7, but I have a high
threshold for pain.
I hope everyone is doing the best that they can, and finding peace and
calm...less pain...prayers and vibs are still in progress....Have a good
one!  Mic

Mic, it sounds as if this treatment might be just what you need; surely
hope so. And glad you lucked into being THE patient!

Mic,

Oh I feel for you with the not being able to go pee for 90 mins. I wouldn't
be able to go that long, I would wet my pants. ;-)

Do you have to lay still for that time too?  That would be hard to do also.

Good that you got to decrease your diuretics and that the swelling is coming
down.

I hope the heel pain gets lesser and lesser till it is finally gone.

That is so great that you get this done free. Good job. ;-)

I hope it works for you totally.
