Back from DC.... phew it was cold back there! When I arrived last
weekend it was 40 degrees and 28 in the morning plus a 25 mph wind.
Yikes it was cold, probably 3 weeks behind our spring. The dogwoods
are blooming here, but we will pay dearly this summer when we have no
water and everything is burning up. It was a good trip saw my old
friends and relatives.
Yesterday I had a lovely scenic tour of the USA thanks to the dummies
at Delta. I managed to go from DC Reagan airport to Atlanta to
Cincinnati to Portland OR. Delta figured I needed the southern scenic
circle tour then lost my luggage, which should be here tonight
between 8 and 10 pm. If you want to see most of the US by plane fly
Delta. Customer Service.... Not!!!!!
Hopefully everyone is doing well. I noticed that Char is still not
up to snuff, hope that improves soon. I killed the flame war
garbage... damn cross posting, but I doubt I will get though the
hundreds of messages. Good to be back but I will probably be gone
next week. -- mz

I had a look at your Website and am seriously impressed. You have
achieved a lot for one so young lol, and I'm full of admiration. As a 58
year old OA person living in UK, I've been to the Grand Canyon twice in
the last 4 years, but those were very gentle tours around the rim -
there's no way I could have done what you have.
The website is great - thank you Mary

Thanks I just wanted to learn about making web sites but then I got
into it and just kept adding and adding. So figured I might as well
keep the site up. -- MZ

I thought about calling you but the trip was so rushed and lunch was
at odd and variable hours, then I was off to Charlottesville.

Welcome back! Glad you made it, in spite of Delta. ;) When we fly,
it's standby so it's much easier for our luggage to take off without us.
Now I pack anything I might need for an unplanned overnight in my
carry-on bag.
Hey, I didn't go anywhere, and I can hardly keep up. So don't stress
out over it. Where are you going next week?

Still remember the time our flights were changed half way across the
country. And my husband spotted the tags on our luggage just in time. They
were headed for somewhere in Africa.

And you deprived your luggage of an adventure? lol Coming home from
California several years ago, I made it to Seattle just fine, but my
luggage went to Tucson. It isn't so bad when coming home. I don't
generally take everything I own! But heading out to New York, we didn't
make the connecting flight at Detroit, but our luggage did, and spent
the night in Syracuse.
Oh, well! LOL That trip was funny, too, going through security. My
daughter made cookies for us to take to her grandma. First time we went
through the routine, my heart jumped a bit when the TSA checking my
carry-on said, "Uh-oh. Ladies, look at this. Can we let this go
through?" Then she held up the container of cookies, and I started
breathing again. Same thing happened in Detroit. Of course, the
biggest threat to the cookies was ME, when we had to spend an extra day
on the trip.
Okay, back to work.

The best one I ever heard was some friends of Mike's uncle and aunt. The
friends were on the way from Illinois to the LA area to visit the uncle and
aunt. The airline they were flying went out of business during their St
Louis-Denver leg. Completely out of business, kaput, no more flights. Their
flight was scheduled to continue to LAX, but instead ended with their stop in
Denver. Everyone was scrambling to find flights on other airlines and trying
to pay for it. I think the feds changed some rules about how airlines go out
of business after that one!

We will see but hopefullly the Owyhee River. We had this planned for
later in April but the water is coming off so fast we had to move it
up. Not sure if it will be runnable we will make a decision on Sunday.
Owyhee is a stunning river in Eastern Oregon only runnnable in the
spring. This is the 4 th year in a row I have tried to get on it.

Ooooh. Scary, but very exciting, too. Hope it works out for you.
Last time I was in OR we were on the eastern side of the mts riding a
train on the freight lines along the Deschutes River. Beautiful
countryside, and dramatic. It was January, so didn't see any river
riders. No people at all except going through small towns. They came
out on their porches to wave at us.
My, my, but I'm chatty these days! lol Must be spring fever.
