Yes, you're absolutely right, Joe. I was cutting corners when I
phrased it that way.

Yes, more examples of how broken our system is these days. It's not
only the legislature, of course; the governor gets involved in the
same way, as well as the special interests on both sides.
Anyway, I guess we've about beaten this to death. The folks in 49
other states and dozens of countries are probably totally uninterested
in our problems right now.

well, the DH does have kin out there, we both have friends in CA, and my
brother, who lives in Tallahassee, works in LA right now. That keeps me more
interested. Also, Florida passed their own limit on property taxes a few
years ago and are beginning to develop fiscal problems also. I fear they
will learn nothing from CA's example, though.

Glad to know that I haven't totally ruined my welcome here on the
sidelines. :-)

well,,, surely not with me. If you are worried about political
correctness,,,, it is part of the problem. Speak your mind,,,, say what
you think,,, you will feel better and you may learn something from what is
discussed. If you do not have an open mind and can not learn from what
other people think and say,,,, then just shut up and get out of the way.
