Is there anyone else out there who actually had worse naseua after switching
to injections? When I took it orally I very rarely wound up thrwoing up but
since making the switch the day afterwards I have been quite violently ill.
It makes no sense to me other than the fact that I am absorbing more taken
this way but everything I read made me think that injections would be better
for stomach issues.

Gareeth,

Shortly after I initially made the switch from oral to injectable mtx, I
landed in the hospital very ill --- nausea, abdominal pain, bloody
diarrhea, etc.   It was determined through testing and such, that it had
been brought on by the injectable form of the mtx.  I continue to this
day using the mtx in its injectable form, but also take leucovorin
instead of folic acid.  The leucovorin is taken the day after the mtx
and has worked well for me in keeping those nasty side effects at bay
for the most part.  Yes, I do still get the fatigue and the occassional
mouth sores, but over all, the leucovorin helps things tremendously.
Please ask your doctor about this to see what he/she thinks.

Even if it is the same amount of Methx.,,,, your system is getting more
Methx because you are not loosing any in your gut like you used to.  I would
for sure talk to your RD about the amount you are taking by injection and
bring the doc up on your reaction to shots.

The injections are supposed to be easier on the stomach.  I give myself an
injection once a week, but have not had nausea, but, you need to ask your
doctor about it for sure.  Nanny

I had the same results when I changed over because of
stomach problems. My
Rheumatologist had me take half the injection one night and
the other the next
morning. This made it a lot easier on me and I no longer have
the reactions I had.
Asked you doc if this is possible with you.
