Good Morning, and what a beauty it is!

I saw my rheumatologist yesterday and had some important
conversation.

I talked with you all about my recent flare, I finally got my blood
test information back and gain, my flare causes liver numbers to be
off - for that reason rheumy doesn't want me to use Methotrexate
additional to my enbrel.  My sed rate this time was 75 and I don't
understand the liver numbers but they were off enough that the rheumy
recognized an issue.  This is the second time a flare caused poor
liver numbers - this flare was five days long and the most painful
one, I've ever had.  I'm fortunate, in that I'm quite comfortable and
productive now - after the prednisone.

My tongue is constantly irritated, by Mobic it seems - I asked rheumy
about that and wondered if it was time to change the Mobic and he said
yes, that's a good idea, so, I will be on Etodolac if it works for
me.

Doc has also ordered Enbrel for twice a week - these are needles that
are ready to be injected, no mixing, etc.

I've read all the posts about Enbrel and I never consider the time
element as closely as you all have mentioned - I will try to pay more
attention to the time it is out of the fridge.  My injections are self
injecting needles, some times a little more painful than others, but
I'm used to that - sometimes it will bruise badly, all of this in the
same general area of my fat pad on my tummy.

I'm interested in anything you may care to share, I appreciate your
thoughts, always.

I am looking forward to feeling better.

Wishing everyone a sunshiney painfree day,
Dee

If your tongue continues to be irratated, even after the change in meds,
ask your doctor to check your B-12 level as this can be one of the
symptoms of a low B-12 level.

Hope the extra dose of enbrel will be of  some help and hope the new
anti-inflammatory will do the trick for you as well!

Keep us posted!

Interesting.  I did not know that liver numbers would correlate with a
flare.

Wishing you back a sunshiney painfree day.

O.K. help me understand, if you will - if my blood pressure goes UP
when I have a flare, will that cause my liver numbers to become high?
That's what I'm guessing - just guessing - but whenever I have a flare
- my BP goes high  and whenever I get a blood test during one of these
flares, it has some irregular numbers and my rheumy tells me it's the
liver - he was going to suggest MTX along with the 2 x Enbrel dosage,
but changes his mind after looking at the numbers - I should have
asked for an explanation about that, I am a little tongue tied when
I'm at the doctor's office - I need to be more inquisitive, I'm sure.

Anyway, he put me on the 2x a week Enbrel and also Etodolac, hoping to
get off of Mobic and have better control on the inflammation I've had
for awhile.

Thanks Donna for good wishes and

Good luck to everyone with their ordeals,

Dee

Its really hard to separate the chicken from the egg with blood
pressure problems.  I'd write down my questions for the doctor for
next time.

I think, but don't know, that liver problems are more likely to be
the cause of high blood pressure than the other way around.

Will be researching it myself since Charlie is having blood pressure
problems.  Only his is way too low.

Mine is low, too.  I get a kick out of the nurses.  They'll check it and
then say "No problem, it's low."  I did ask one once if there wasn't a point
between "low" and "no" blood pressure that they start to worry.  She just
looked at me and her look said "This one has a weird sense of humor, look
out for her!"  LOL

Hi Dee,

How long have you been on Enbrel? Are you rotating your injection sites?
It's important not to inject in the same area everytime. Hope you get your
other concerns addressed, cause I don't have any answers there.
