rose - what day do you go in for your knee surgery?  Is it the first week of
August and do you have someone to be with you when you come home or will you
need it?

thinking of you.

thanks, Kelly. The surgery is the 4th. I am trying not to think about
it too much as I remember too well what it all felt like when I had
the hip revision at the end of October. In the meantime, I am
experiencing a major flare. it is the tendon pain, where the arms and
shoulders don't even want to move. the pain is pretty intense; more so
that joint pain. the RAers will know what I mean. I am due for
rituxan, but also I had to stop taking the anti-inflammatory prior to
the surgery. I never thought celebrex did much. now I know it did a
great deal. I have not been sleeping well and that is compounding the
problem.

I am not sure what, if any, help I will need after. more of my friends
can help now that school is not in session, and any one of them would
be glad to stay.I needed a lot of help last time because I could not
get out of bed unassisted. I don't foresee having the same problem
this time. I do have the leg lifting device and that should help.

I miss having an irrigation system. my neighbour across the street
said she would help with watering.

I have been having ongoing problems with the Internet cable going out.
since I moved, I think it has only worked half the time. last evening
there was a power outage; although the cable did not go out I could
not access email or newsgroups.

I submitted my proposal on the 10th, and was happily thinking
everything was fine. then a friend mentioned a particular email she
had received after submitting that I had not received. I checked the
university email only to find an email from the proposal liaison to my
mentor and committee telling them to tell me that I had to resubmit
because my files were all .docx instead of .doc. the email was dated
the 15th, five days after I submitted and a week before I checked. No
one had mentioned anything.

I quickly resubmitted only to find the next day that I had to submit
again because in one document I had the date as year/month/day and it
needed to be month/day/year. No one had ever said that was what was
required. we always consider the year/month/day format to be
internationally acceptable. Finally I did receive a copy of an email
sent to mentor and committee members telling them to tell me that
everything was fine and my proposal was going to the academic review
board. the process takes 15 business days or so. if it had gone
through initially, my proposal would have been through the process by
this time and I would be hearing if it was accepted or rejected.Oh
well...

(Please note, I have omitted upper case at times due to
pain/stiffness. this is not my usual style of writing).

Following my THR in 2007, I couldn't get INTO bed for 2 weeks.  <G>

What's a "leg lifting device?"  Mary was mine for those 2 weeks.

... Why do we put suits in a garment bag and garments in a suitcase?

Thank you.  It looks great for someone without an aide, but I do
believe Mary did a much better job.  <G>

... EVERYONE is weird.  Some of us are proud of it.
