Well, I think I'm about back to where I was when we tried going down to
20mg.  I have to stay at this level of 30mg for one week and make sure I am
stable again.  Then I try 25mg.  If that gives me a problem, back to 30 and
stabilize and then try 27-1/2mg.  I don't know why I'm giving y'all the
itemized steps.  I'm sure you have all been through it.  At least I'm
breathing again without having to get rid of all that phlegm.  When I went
to my rheumy this morning, she said I may have to decrease my Evoxac (for
dry mouth) because sometimes it will increase the asthma.  She asked me to
call my pulmonologist and check with him.  When she checked my lungs, she
said I was wheezing but not badly.  We did kind of dash a bit to get to the
appointments (Mom's is at the same time) so that probably explains that.
Well, he is out of town for two weeks, so the nurse and I decided (since I
haven't seen an increased effect) to leave it at the status quo and see what
he says when he gets back.

How did the wild cherry bark tea do for the asthma, or are you not
the one that was going to be trying it?

Nope, not me.  I'm having all I can do in keeping away from known allergens
to me, that I am afraid to try anything new.  I just can't seem to stabilize
again.  I have to be stable at 30 for a week before we can start trying to
go down again.

LJ,

Saw my lung doctor today and he said it has been a horrible year for
people with allergies and breathing issues.   I don't know if everyone
is having as weird of weather as we are here in michigan, but wow it has
been one strange summer.   Huge swings in temperatures and humidity and
such.   The last 3 nights in a row we have actually set records for low
temps at this time of year!   Temps at night the last 3 nights have been
down to 42 or so, that never happens at this time of year!   Lung doctor
said even his most stable patients are having huge trouble and are on
varying doses of steroids!

Hope you can get things to calm down soon!!!

A bit of reading for someone trying to use industrial strength
antihistamines (corticosteroids) to "control" their immune
processes. Mentions asthma, too.

Really, Michael, you have really started to turn in to a bit of a
fanatic like Rusty!   You have pushed the naltrexone enough here.  We
are all aware of it and don't need to have it constantly pushed at us or
pushed down our throats.

Actually, that's rather amusing.
Today I got a long distance call telling me thanks, at about
the same time you were saying " Lung doctor
said even his most stable patients are having huge trouble
and are on varying doses of steroids!"

So I'll take your webtv observation under advisement.
Obviously, nothing has been pushed down your throat, this
being the internet. Be sure to attempt research with your webtv
on asthma as a misdirected immune process.

Interesting thing about Rusty. He copies anything that happens
to tell about iron toxicity, even if he doesn't understand what it
says. He's not even aware of a lot he has posted. And is unable
to answer questions.

Big difference.

Hey SJ,

I am haning in, although it definitely has been a bit of a challenging
summer with this crazy weather and such.

My appointment today was for follow up from when I was in the hospital a
few weeks ago.  He (lung doctor) was pleased with how much better my
lungs sounded and that is when he told me about how literally all his
patients are having a hard time this year due to the weather and he was
working hard to keep up with all the calls he has been getting from
patients.   He said I should move to arizona or I think it was ethier
san diego or one of those western areas where it is in the 60's most all
year round and fairly dry most of the year.  He said he would come with
me so he could continue to be my dcotr!   lololol..........I think that
was just his excuse!

Other wise I am doing ok.  Still lots going on on the health front and
many decisions to think about and have to make.   Some times you just
want to bury your head in the sand.  I did manage to cancel all doctors
appointments in june (except when I got sick) so had a nice break from
the whole medical scene for a while.  It was pure heaven and very much
needed for sanity sake.    I'll have to do that more often when I start
to feel over whelmed by all the medical stuff going on.   I am very
blessed by an incredible group of doctors who are all so compassionate
and caring and really do go above and beyond to help keep things stable
for me, and I so appreciate each and every one of them, but still need
to get away from them and the whole thing once in a while.

June was an incredible month of relaxation, focussing on nieces and
nephews and the joy they bring, etc.

We have a family reunion coming up in august, so need to try to stay
well and rested so I can truly enjoy our time together with family and
cousins, etc.   Also so I can enjoy some time on the beach!!!

You do indeed need to stay well for that, Donna. Time on the
beach sounds like heaven to me, alas I am far from the Atlantic
Ocean now and no beach for me. I like the fact that your doctor
is willing to move to Arizona with you, think he was just looking
for an excuse? I have also been told by some that those 'dry'
states only help for a while and that people who live there all
the time have as much asthma as others. Since it was  the famous
'they' who told me that, you can take it with as much or as
little salt as you wish.

I grew up in Southern California and had severe asthma as a child and
problems even after I was grown. My mother, born and raised in Missouri,
also had severe asthma. We moved to   California when I was 2 and a half
and she was 25. Her asthma calmed down for a while but her lungs were
still so bad she was able to get SSI just for them and did have problems
such as lung hemmorages in her 30s.

BTW I was born in Colorado where my parents initially moved for my mom's
asthma but the cold winter air hurt her lungs and she was really tired
of snow.

I now live in New Jersey. My asthma is under control (for now) and my
pulse ox recently was 97. :) Didn't move here for my health but for my
daughter and we're thinking of moving to Iowa to be near my other daughter.

Donna,

I think that is all we can do is hang in there. Yeah it has been crazy
weather, but ours has been nicer than most. I sure did enjoy the cooler
temps we had in early June and July but I guess now we are going to pay for
it. it looks like we are going to have a week to ten days of 100's and I do
not do good in that kind of weather even with a/c on. I am already throwing
up.

I am glad your lungs sounded better and the lung dr was pleased with how
well you were doing that way.

Glad you got a break from all those drs appts. I bet that was such a relief
to you. Glad you got that resting time in.

I hope all goes well for you and the reunion. That sounds like so much fun.
I miss having family reunions.

The weather is really vicious today and looks to stay that way for
another week.  I'm not sleeping very well at night, so I'm up and
outside as soon as it light, trying to get enough water on
everything and trying to tire out the dog before it hits 90.  Headed
for 108f today and a north (fire) wind.  16% humidity right now and
dropping.  The Buttes were burning yesterday and they are trying
very hard to keep it from kicking back up again today.

We will cook, but this is normal for now, and will stabilize the
weather to the east.  Its when our weather gets wonky that the rest
of you are in big trouble.

yeah but at least before we got a break before having such a long stretch of
100's. I have a feeling we are paying for the 7-10 days in June and 7 days
in July of cooler weather. I would rather have a couple of 100's and then
down in the lower 90's then a couple 100's not this long stretch of 100's.
It is looking like this here, this is what accuweather.com says for our
area. starting tomorrow and ending 7/29.
104,103,101,100,101,101,95,97,98,101,103,104,104,103,102. that is not
counting the last few days of 100's.

They say we usually have 22 days in summer of 100 weather. We had 4 in May,
7 in June, 3 already in July up to tomorrow. It looks like we are going to
go over the 22 days this year. And then there is Aug. Last year we had
10-100 days.

But at least this year the fires have been better till lately. So I guess
that is a plus.

Well at least we are helping those in the East this year too. I read where
we are going to have El Nino and that will stop the Altantic Coast from
having so many hurricanes. So maybe we will do them some good yet.
