I have three needs for prayers tonight. Please bear with me.
My great nephew with the leukemia is doing all right, but his sister Emma
needs prayers:

Nate recieved his last IV chemo today. I was alittle dissappointed that
noone said anything. We go back in 2 weeks for counts. Onto my other
problem....Emma. Emma spent the last 2 days in the hospital. She was having
trouble walking and talking. I called the pediatrician and He sent us to the
ER. She got a CT scan and it was normal. Bloodwork showed that she was
dehydrated. That ER sent us by ambulance to CCMC. The neurologist saw us and
thought that Emma had a seizure from a virus that her body is fighting. Emma
had an MRI and an EEG today and they were all normal. No seizure meds yet.
If she does it again, we will decuss meds. It was very scary to see her
unable to walk, talk or even focus her eyes. Nate only has 26 more days of
chemo !!!!! Please pray that Emma contiues to get better. Thanks.

My daughter-in-law just called tonight (she is the wife of my youngest son
who just got back from Iraq because of her mother being so ill this spring.
Her father's big brother died suddenly this morning and Tara and two of the
children are on their way to Indiana in the morning to support her dad.
Prayer need no. 3 is me. I went from 30mg to 20mg of pred a week ago
tomorrow. Yesterday, I started getting congested in the chest late in the
afternoon. I called the nurse and left a message. She called this morning
and told me to get an appointment with the doctor next week, so I go in on
Tuesday. I've been having trouble breathing most of the day. So, pray for
all of us, please. This happened last time I went from 30mg in about the
same amount of time. That time, I went down to 10mg. I felt so good on
the 30mg. I thought we really had it licked. Thanks everybody

In my prayers,,,, really big problems that need to be taken to the Lord and
have been. There is only so much you can do with all of this and you are
soooo right to take all of it to the Lord.
Thy will be done,,,, please,,,, you rest and sleep well.

Next week seems a long time away (unless I am getting this message out of
order). Please think twice about waiting that long if things get tough. I
will be keeping prayers going - still somuch going on. Wouldn't it be lovely
if Nate's counts were incredible in all this. That family needs a break.
when you are at the doctor's, see if he thinks maybe you should be coming
down on the prednisone a little slower than 30 to 20 in quick time. Perhaps
go down by 5mg a week at the most? Or could the reduction be combined with
oxygen temporarily or something?? I am no expert on breathing problems but
if it is the second time with problems coming down??
But prayers are still being said. Keep us posted Navy. As always I am
thinking of you.

I called the nurse and she put me back on the 30mg. I agree that we will
probably have to taper a little less steeply. Getting in to see him next
week is pretty good, anyhow. As of today, he and another doctor have moved
downstairs two floors at that office building where they were and are
starting their own practice. These two weeks will be moving weeks. I took
the extra 10 mg at noon and am feeling a lot better. This happened once
before when he tried to bring me down off the prednisone. So, I imagine the
first thing he will try will be a more gradual taper. I've not been on
prednisone for some twenty or so years, so it's practically a new
experience. A slower taper was the first thing I thought of. I notice
immediately the difference after I take my Spiriva in the morning, now. It
helps. I will keep all posted. So, there probably won't be a change on me
until after next Tuesday.
No word on the other two. Please keep prayers coming. Thanks to everyone.

Glad of her advice! Not everyone can take that steep a drop even when not
on for very long. Shows things weren't quite under control. Just take it
easy and if things change get in faster!

That's what I plan to talk to him about next week is that we are going to
have to take it a lot slower. I hadn't been on pred for a long time, so
didn't realize the difference 10mg can make! Wow, now I know what you guys
have been talking about when it comes to pred!

This is an update on Nate and his sister, that I got today from my niece:

Just a short update. Nate is doing well. The steroids are taking affect, but
We keep telling ourselves that this is the last time that He has them. AJ is
excited to celebrate his 9th Birthday tomorrow along with his Uncle Phillip.
AJ wanted to wait and have their Birthdays together. Emma is doing ok. She
has had a few short little spells. Nothing major like the other day. We are
just watching her. Thanks for checking on us. Hope everyone has a great 4th
of July!!!

I am doing much better back on the 30mg a day of prednisone. I see my
doctor on Tuesday, the 7th and we'll probably have to adjust the tapering
amount. I don't know yet how small a step we will have to take. I will
update on that later.
My daughter-in-law has made it safely to Indiana and the funeral is today, I
believe. All is well with the two who didn't go, my middle great nephew and
his dad. They are off to a Scout camping trip, which is why they didn't go
to Indiana. Keep the prayers coming for all of us, please. You are so
wonderful.

glad to hear the steroids are working for Nate. Happy Birthday to AJ. Glad
Emma is doing ok now. Good to hear you are doing better with the pred too.
They might have to bring you down by 5 mg or even 2.5 a day for awhile to
see if that works.

No news on great nephew other than what I posted above. My daughter-in-law
is safely back in Virginia, so I guess that prayer need can be closed off
with a thankful amen. I have posted an update on my asthma above, too.
Thanks for the support you have given us. Please continue the prayers for
me and my great nephew.
