You know our government and others want to protect us from ourselves. Yes it
is good to be safe, but to the point that the government steps in on every
little thing and creates laws and polocies and ways of dealing with problems
has created a problem initself.
I think being "safe" has really gone overboard.
I can say this because I have seen it with my own children for instance at
prom and graduation. A prom is not a prom anymore these budding adults are
treated like preschoolers. Just so they can be "safe". How are they ever
going to learn how to trust their instincts or judgement if they can not
practice those situations. It is almost like they are being sent the message
"we do not trust you and we are going to protect you from yourself and not
let you make any decisions on your own." I am saying this because some
situations are blown way out of proportion.
My nephew was in 3rd grade and accedently lost his shorts on the play ground
(the elastic was too big) and was suspended for sexual harrassment. My son
was suspended for three days for knocking the heck out of a kid that had
been bullying him for months. Back in my day it was a quick padding and back
to class. Can't do that its child abuse now. I bet if we let the schools
paddle again and bring back some "old" ways of discipline then the crime
rate would drop. Sorry I will ease of my soap box for now and I Am sorry in
advance if I offended anyone here today.
Love ya all and wish you the best.

None of that I am sorry business. That was a good example of the
frustrations of dealing with today's world. Kind of makes you want more
ethanol in your gas and who cares about food riots somewhere in the world.
Euuuppps,,,, don't get me started.

You didn't offend me. My son was about 7 or 8 and he tickled a little girl
in his class. His hands slid down (shortie top) and touched her skin. She
had hysterics and my son was suspended for three days. This was a Catholic
school where I had to pay tuition for him. By the next month he was back
into public schools. I told the teacher, principal, and priest that my
child did not have a problem, the little girl did. Or maybe her parents.
In 1957, she would have tickled back and everybody would have gone about
their business after S'ster bawled them both out for noise on the
playground.
