OK - give me a nine letter word that you can remove all the letters and
still have a word each time. i.e. you remove one letter and the eight
remaining letters are still a legitimate word. Then you remove another
letter and the seven remaining letters are still a word, etc., until there
is one letter standing and it is still a legitimate English word. Keep all
the letters in their original order as you remove the one letter each time.
And yes, it can be done.

I'll post the answer tonight.

Geez, DeeTee, I'm having trouble even coming up with a nine letter word,
let alone one that will fit your description!

S T A R T L I N G       now remove the L
S T A R T I N G          now remove the second T
S T A R I N G             now remove the A
S T R I N G                 now remove the R
S T I N G                     now remove the T
S I N G                        now remove the G
S I N                            now remove the S
I N                               and now remove the N
I

This was not something I came up with. I received it in my email and was
fascinated. Hope y'all enjoyed yourselves.

I forwarded this to my son today and when he came home from work, he brought
me the answer.  He got it from his boss who "likes that kind of stuff"!
But he finally admitted that Jim got it from Snopes; he didn't figure it out
himself.

And the answer is.......

I
