Oh no!
I hate the sight of blood.
I have no ambition to enter the medical field.
I also hate the weather in Michigan. (I grew up there, but haven't lived
there since the 80's)
And I haven't had the flu since I left.

LOL...............Craig, there is NO blood involved in participating in
this program and you don't have to have a desire at all to go into the
medical field. All the program is really, is to help medical students
through talking with them and taking them to one doctors appointment
with you so that they can better learn how chronic illnesses impact the
patient, their lives, and their relationships with their doctors. So,
all that is needed, is a willingness to open up and share with a couple
of medical students.

Donna,
So glad to hear from you. If I still lived within 30 miles of Ann Arbor, I
would most certainly participate in this study. The only way students are
going to see it first hand, before a doctor patient situation where they
have to treat right away, is through a study like this. Arthritis and other
autoimmune diseases affect more than just the patient as all of us know from
experience. Having doctors who are aware of the familial effects on the
patient's wellbeing would be wonderful. Good luck to all of them who do
participate.
How are you doing, Donna?

I would if I lived there. I'm participating in a study at our local
university on the effects of strength training on adults with type II
diabetes. I get to work out with a personal trainer 3X a week which is
really good as it keeps me going. I don't know if I'd have this
discipline all on my own. And I'm learning a lot and so is he, so it's
good for all of us :)

Yes - I would participate. I think the hardest thing for me are the doctors
who have no clue what you're going through. This would be a great program.

Yeah, I think I would. Having worked in a teaching hospital on and off over
20 years, I really saw a change in young doctors' attitudes towrds patients
and their life issues. I think it is programs like this that have them
learning to take a more holistic approach. And we all know that holistic is
important in chronic illness as one life happening can throw everything out
of whack.
