First of all, Thumper has been consistently a supportive member of
this group for probably five or six years (i'll google later). She
has always been on the scene with support when needs support. That
said, both parties here need to just calm down. Thumper, there are
probably more people who agree with you than disagree. However, keep
it to the issue-it has more of a potency. The flame war heat here is
not helping any one and really does scare people off.
Also let me apologize for not responding to the 'Thumper would like
to turn..."remark. I did, writing a long response with lots of good
statistics and anecdotes, and then I just couldn't hit send. We all
know what we believe and nothing I can say will change any mind.
However, I should have come to your defense. That got left behind
when I decided not to send (not purposely but just in that oh what the
heck moment before I deleted). I apologize
Harv, it is just laughable that you decide to "report" thumper. For
what-disagreeing with you? And why thumper and not Ari who disagreed
just as forcefully? Well, fact of the matter is that her ISP will not
even take a strong look at your "report". I don't even care if you
get into a battle of name calling (except that I certainly hope both
of you can just stick to the issues) but quite frankly, the threat
here came from you, Harv. How would you feel if every time someone
disagreed with you, they reported you. It is a petty threat and
certainly not designed for support of arthritis.
Thumper, I personally appreciate what you bring to this group. I
love your feisty nature and I love the fact that you hop in often with
true support. However, I will implore you to stick to the facts not
matter how annoying the disagreement becomes.
Harv,
I love the line that this newsgroup is just about arthritis and yet
you jump into every political battle that comes along and many many
personal ones as well. You can't have it both ways-if it is just
about arthritis and support, stop responding.
So in my ideal world, thumper, you continue posting and being an
active member of ASA and that you know many many of us agree with you
but have just decided to leave the fray because it has become so
personal and nasty.

You have had your say. I do what I say I am going to do. When politics
gets beyond information,,, it is destructive to a support group. Everyone
has their own point for that,,,,, you know mine.
