There's nothing whatever the matter with me.
I'm just as healthy as I can be.
I have arthritis in both knees,
And when I talk, I talk with a wheeze.
I think my liver is out of whack,
And a terrible pain is in my back.
My pulse is weak and my blood is thin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.
My hearing is poor, my sight is dim,
Most everything seems to be out of trim,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.
I have arch supports for both my feet,
Or I wouldn't be able to go on the street.
Sleeplessness I have night after night,
And in the morning I'm just a sight.
My memory is failing, my head's in a spin,
I'm peacefully living on asprin,
But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in.
The moral is, as this tale we unfold,
That for you and me who are growing old,
It's better to say, "I'm fine," with a grin,
Than to let them know the shape we're in.

I love this poem and isn't it the truth. Lucky for us we have each
other here and can tell one another exactly what is going on and know we
will get understanding.

You have touched and understood what makes it work for people and the
important thing is we all need that understanding.

And a wonderful thing about this group of folks is that no matter what you
tell them about yourself or what you feel, or don't feel. everybody
understands and don't hassel you about it. I've never loved so many people
that I haven't met! But I feel that I know them anyway.

I have always said, "If you can't laugh at yourself,
don't laugh at others."
Which means, if you can't laugh at an ethnic/religious/illness
story/joke, you shouldn't be spreading them either.
Reminds me of a time at a Baptist church in town, following
a marriage ceremony. One old biddy complained about the
laughter and clapping during the ceremony. She thought church
should be devoid of such expressions.
I stared her in the face and asked if God didn't have a
sense of humor. After all, He did create us. <g>

Can very much identify with that! lol
Sent that on to some other folks who are also in pretty good shape for the
shape they're.
