Care Credit?
They are like a ?credit card that allows you to pay for some types of
expenses like eye care, dental care, vetenary care, etc. for 3-6 months
interest free and then the interest is 11 or 12%.
Apparently if an office or doctor participates in this plan, care credit
pays off the doctor, and then you pay care credit like you would a
credit card, except they honor the interest free portion that the
doctors office offers. Very interesting and not something I have ever
heard of before.
I have to go for a cracked tooth next week to see if first the tooth can
even be saved. If it can, will have to get a root canal and then a crown
put on. If it can't be saved, then I will be sent directly to an oral
surgeons office to have the tooth pulled.
Either way, it will be expensive and my dental coverage won't even come
close to covering it all, so the oral surgeons office told me about the
care credit, otherwise I would have to shuck out a couple of hundred
dollars up front to them before they would even do anything!
Just wondering if anyone is familiar at all with this care credit thing?
Want to see if anyone knows anything about this or has any experiences
good or bad with this before I call them.

Donna,.
My cousin was offered this through her dentist when she had teeth
extracted and a set of dentures made last year. She had a year to pay
off the several thousand dollars, and was very happy with it.

I don't know if that's the one, but a friend of ours here has something like
that. I'll ask her tomorrow what the name of it is. It seems like her had
even longer to pay things off, but I may be remembering wrongly. I'll tell
you more tomorrow.

I have one for medical (when I had lasik eye surgery) and another for auto
repairs to pay off some major work I needed. Had no problems with them. Paid
them off within the grace period though. Actually, I should say I still have
them.

I haven't used it yet, but all the dentists I have been considering are
doing it. I guess it's so that they don't have to be bothered with
billing people every month.

OK, I emailed Linda, because I forgot to ask her at church yesterday, in the
midst of a costo flare that seriously complicated talking. It's Care Credit
that she has - she also signed up for it through her dentist. I remember her
mentioning that it worked well for her and she'd found it useful.

Thanks everyone for all of your input on this! Will likely decide
tomorrow (tues) once the endodontist figures out what needs to be done
with the tooth and whether or not it can be saved or whether it has to
be pulled and I am sent to an oral surgeon! Yuck---I hate going to the
dentists!!!
