does anybody know of a website where one can find the actual shelf life of
over the counter and prescription drugs? i don't mean the exp. date on the
bottle (as i know many, not all, drugs are still good far beyond that date.)

I do not know of a website, but one of the docs I worked for said it
depended on the med. Bp med can go as long as 3 - 6 mos after date. I am not
sure about others.

Manufacturers are required to put a date on their products, so
they select the earliest date possible (sell more that way).
There not much research on the actual dates - not much at all.
Diabetes drug/insulin we purchase for the cat has a 1 month
date, but it's good for at least 3 months beyond that date.
... One who says it can't be done shouldn't interrupt the one doing it.

Try asking your pharmacist. Also, ask about what the best way to store your
meds so they will last longer. Sometimes, keeping meds in a cool, dark place
will extend their life.
