Good Morning to ya!

I've had one cup of coffee so I should be able to be slightly coherent
(which is a step above normal for me!)

Doc says p.t. to try to loosen the back up some and pain clinic for
cortisone shots to L2, L3, L4. He is hoping that will restore some function.
It won't get me anywhere near 100%, but may improve things some. Real
problem is the stenosis is foraminal which is near impossible to reopen
without major surgery (plates, screws, rods, etc.) to restore disc height. He
did mention possibly trying the XSTOP devices, but he was even skeptical
about how effective they would be in my case.

Good thing I'm not in severe pain here. I called the pain clinic for an
appt. The first one has to be an hour long for evaluation. Well, the next
opening is over a month from now. And then after that I will have to
schedule another time to actually have done what ever they recommend.

I did mention to him I play golf and he said that was good. :-)

I asked him how far I could push this without surgery and he said only time
will tell. Surgery is pretty inevitable, just not yet.

On a more optimistic subject, we have a WHOLE WEEK of 40 (F) degree weather
forecast!!! Feels like damn summer out there compared to what this winter
was like. Still, a possibility of more snow by weeks end, but we are
definitely on the down side of this winter. Hoping not to see another one
like this one in a very long time.

Hey "ziggy'   or Gary as well we know.

Ask them at PT about using water. I did it for 6 weeks and it decreased the area on the one L5 that
was pushing too.  I got in the deep end with a life preserver on my gut area, then just floated like
in a standing position. I tell you it works wonders at the time.

So the doctor mentioned the xstop...mmm   maybe my doctor could see you  here in the Buckeye state
hehe.  I do know they have had excellant results so far in one he did.

Pain clinics are like how you say. but that wait is way to long. I suggest you call them back and
get on the CALL list from other people cancelling.  I don't want to toot LOL OHIO but the pain
clinic here gets you in there in a week. Do the one consult and by the next week they do the block.
My friend in Michigan had hers done in Michigan just like that too.  Is your pain clinic small?

I have had 4 blocks on my L4 L5 area and they did help for about 5 months till that stupid disc
ruptured.  So now here I set and the surgery seemed to go well it is just hard to  heal with having
lupus and all.

Get on the Phone and set up that water with PT. It will help or don't you like them to see you in
your Bathing suit hehe.  At least you could wear shorts that you golf in too LOL

swing away there now, it is getting to be spring.

good luck now

Hi Janers!

Doc seemed to believe the xstop would be more effective if I had central
canal stenosis as opposed to foraminal. He didn't entirely rule out the
option though and said it could be tried. He just didn't have a lot of
confidence xstop would be of great benefit.

Gary,

Hope the PT and the pain clinic can get you some relief and fairly
quickly too.  Did you by any chance mention the lidoderm patches to the
nuero?

Keep us posted as to how you make out with all of this!

I did mention the insurance turned me down for them. He had no response. I
think his referral to the pain clinic is his way of treating the pain. He
also knows I'm eating vicodin daily.

Oh Gary, I hope you get something that works for you and you won't need the
surgery.
