I have to ask you guys about fevers.. I have been running this low grade
fever for over a month now... it goes up and down constantly.. It ranges
anywhere from 99.2-100.5.
I have been in this nasty flare that put me in the hospital last Thursday
night. I went home friday after a dose of nitro and predisone. Nitro was for
all the darn chest pain I was having.. I ended up in the er for chest pains,
fast heart rate, swollen glands on the back of my neck that were painfull,
and dizziness. I responded to the nitro and the chest pains stopped..now
with taking the pred I am having a high heart rate and very very tired. My
fam doc sent me home and said it was a nasty flare and that I was having
pleuracy(sp?). I am having fever now and feel so flushed along with jittery
from the pred.

Rhonda, when my son was in the hospital with pleurisy, the doc drained the
fluid from it.

Rhonda,
I run a low grade fever sometimes. I used to think it had something to
do with a high sed rate but I haven't had my blood tested in a long time
now so not sure.
I can't relate to the rest of your symptoms though so don't have any
advice.

Pleurisy is not nice. Did you have a chest X-ray? With that and a
fever you may need antibiotics rather than Prednisone. If things
don't improve quickly I think you need to see a doctor.

Pleurisy is a dangerous condition and you are right to watch yourself
carefully. While it can be caused by many things, a RA flare is one of
them.

Presumably, your provider believes when the RA flare ends, so will the
pleurisy. Low grade fever is common with an RA flare as is fatigue, etc.
