I got a call yesterday that I had an appointment with my cardiologist at
10:00AM today. When I said I wasn't sure I could make it, she advised she
could reschedule but it would have to be with another doctor since Dr.
Chan's last day in the office will be February 22 (tomorrow). He is going
to the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. I called a friend to take me
and I saw him this morning. I asked if I stomped my feet, jumped up and
down and screamed, would it make any difference. He just smiled! I told
him he hadn't been here long enough to start talking southern, but he said
his 5 year old daughter is southern.
I really hate that he is leaving but wished him well. His wife is also a
doctor; I didn't ask about her. If anyone is in the Cleveland area, he is
an excellent doctor. He was certified in internal medicine first and then
went into cardiology. He's the one who discovered my lung disease and still
questions me about it.
I still may cry! At least I got a big hug goodby.

Oh Gwen, I sure know how you feel about losing your doctor. My
nephrologist moved out of state this year and I miss him so much. He
did more for me than my PCP, Rheumy, or Endo doctors. He found the
reason for my HBP that I had for years and years and also found kidney
and parathyroid complications. It's so hard to lose someone who really
works hard at his job.

Ann, may I ask what was the reason for your HBP? I take 4 medications for
mine and it is still high most of the time!

It really sucks when you find a great doctor and then they move, or you
have to move. When I moved to Bellingham, I decided to make the trek to
my cardy guy down in Edmonds. It's an hour and a half away, but I didn't
want to start over with someone new, and I like him and trust him. So I
just book the appointments for nice weather days :)

Oh Gwen so sorry to hear this, it is so hard to find good doctors as it is.
I feel for you having to look for another one. But boy nothing like them
letting you know in advance.

OH, Gwen, sorry to hear this! It's always hard to lose a good doctor
that works with you. May you find another that is equally as
wonderful!

I lost my orthopedist, but not because he moved. He had to retire because
of terminal colon cancer. Fortunately, Mom and I have found a replacement,
but I will miss him. You would think that doctors would be the first ones
to do all the tests necessary to maintain their health. I also hear they
are the worst patients, will postpone calling the nurse, because they know
how sick all the patients are and don't want to "take up the nurse's time!)

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((gwenie))))))))))))))))))))))) it can be
disconcerting anticipating having to break-in a new doctor. hopefully, your
new cardio will be even better, or at least as good as dr. chan.
