Dear Friends,

I heard something a couple of weeks back that I have tried!  A
nutritionist told me that when you wake at night you should eat some
sort of protein.  Protein will help you go back to sleep and to stay
asleep.  I've tried this and it seems to work for me.

Just thought I'd pass it along for others!

hmmmm, now I just have to work out how to keep some readyto eat protein
around.  Here's another time I wish I wasn't allergic to diary!  I'm almost
recovered from lousy sleep Tuesday morning- could have used some protein
then!

It's a thought, I'll have to see if anything decent is available the next
time we go into town.  Then we just have to worry about not finishing it off
during the daytime hours.....

Thanks Vickie.  The last few weeks, I've been waking up hungry during the
night.  Now I'll know what to eat.

What about some of those 'protein water' drinks?  Special K makes one and
there are a few others out there.

Yah, I saw an ad for some of that protein water drinks - *theirs* only had
25 calories.  I just can't see spending money on water like that.  Of
course, I have such good water from my faucet, I just can't justify buying
water.  They do a good business,  I guess.  Half the counter in the drinks
section is assorted water, reinforced and not.

Special K sells packets that you add to your own water for a protein boost.
My daughter and my grandson say  it is palatable.  So many protein additives
are not.  I don't like buying water either.  And our tap water is just
great.  But its so hot and dry here in the summer I'll do anything to get
some extra water into the kids.  Its hard to keep your own containers really
clean.  Our tap water isn't cold enough in the summers, so I keep a bottle
of that in the refrigerator.  That also allows the extra chlorine they use
in the summer to burn off before you drink it.

We lived in the desert in Yuma for two years and the water is very tepid
from the tap, so bottling works well.  It's hard to keep the containers
clean when the kids are using them.  We didn't like swimming in the summer
as the pool water was like lukewarm bath water, and not very refreshing.  I
did like the desert anyway and didn't want to live but with both of us out
of work, we had to leave - the only job possibilities were promises of six
months down the road - that won't pay the utilities, etc.  Sure had some
gorgeous sunsets there.

Sometimes I take one carton of yogurt but like tonight I used just 1/4
oz of cheese.  Any amount will do!
