Well, I looked around at other complexes and for what they were asking
for a one bedroom, I could get a two bedroom here. So I put in for one
and got it :)  The other complexes around here are charging utilities,
extra for a washer/dryer, extra for parking, and then I'd have to pay a
cable bill which we get included here. So I was better off with a 2
bedroom here. I'm going to have a nice little office/music/meditation
room in the 2nd bedroom. And it will be nice when friends come to stay
as it can also be a guest room. I'm thinking of getting a futon or Aero
bed :)

I'm moving March 10th, so everyone please send good thoughts :)

Yes, lots of changes and all good. I see my cardiologist on Thursday. He
hasn't seen me since last August and I'm now 74 pounds lighter than the
last time he saw me (overall weight loss is at 94 lbs...only 6 more and
I'll be at the magic 100 :-)))

Well, I have to tell you that he is a very subdued man, but when he
walked into the room, he was beaming!!  His nurse had shown him my chart
and my new weight. I was 232 yesterday, the last time he saw me I was
306. She said he was elated and came running into the room to see me.
Needless to say, he was very pleased and he said that in all his years
of practicing medicine, he could count on one hand the number of his
patients who actually lost a significant amount of weight like I had. He
said my heart sounded good. I have to go for an echo next month so he
can see what it's up to :)) I'm just hoping I don't have to go back to
work. I rather like retirement :))))

He also wanted to know if I was going to keep going and I said yes and
we talked about a goal weight. He was very happy with my choice to go
down to 155-160 and said he can't wait to see me in August.

I can't wait to see me in August either, LOL!!!!  :-))))

Thanks! I do enjoy seeing people that I haven't seen in a while. After I
saw the cardiologist I had lunch with a friend that I haven't seen since
I moved up to Bellingham. During lunch she said "I don't know what it is
you've got, but whatever it is, I want it!" She said she'd never seen me
so happy before :))

And the big fun is that I'm going back to NYC in October :)  My cousins
from England are flying over to NY and taking the QE2 back to England.
I'm not telling them that I've lost weight :)))  I'll also get to see my
best friend and a few other friends while there, and it will be great
for them to see the new Carole :)))  I want to see if my cousins even
recognize me, as the last time they saw me was in 2001 when I was in
England and I was well over 300 then!

Yes, that's the fun of this! I've almost hit the 100 lb mark and saw a
friend the other day that I hadn't seen in over a year. She was like
"Whoa, who are you and what have you done with Carole???"  :-)))  I LOVE
IT :)))

You CAN do it, DeeTee. Believe me, if I can do this, anyone can :))) You
just have to decide that it's the most important thing in your life, and
that you are willing to dedicate whatever amount of time it will take to
get it done. When I started with the bariatrician, I promised him 18
months. Since I was accepted into the strength training program at the
university, I am going so much better that it's looking like I will hit
goal in August or September, which will be a total of 12-13 months from
when I started.

Anything is possible if you believe in your heart that you can do it :)

one of the reasons we're looking to move is to get closer to an exercise
facility again.  We both feel the deterioration of not being able to work out
regularly here.  With a decent gym nearby, I can manage at least a half hour
on a cross-trainer unless I'm feeling truly horrid.  We're both decidedly on
the endomorph side of the scale, but we really do like exercise.

That's why I wanted to stay at this apartment complex. We have a super
cardio room and indoor pool.  The program at the university is great
because I get to work with a personal trainer. That ends in June, but
he's taught me so much that I'll be able to keep going on my own :)

I also told him that I'd write him a really nice letter of
recommendation he can use when he applies for jobs :)

Me too, I like retirement. From what I've been told, your ejection
fraction doesn't go back up. It is what it is, and social security is
based on that number. I feel better because my heart has less of a body
to pump to now, but my heart is still weak. I just have to pray that it
stays as it is and doesn't deteriorate any more. That's why I get a flu
and pneumonia shot every year. I can't take the chance of getting
another virus.

Thanks, Jo. This one is on the 3rd floor, so it will be quiet. And it
has 2 bedrooms so I can have an office/meditation room :) The balcony
overlooks the pond so it's very tranquil and I'm sure Dundee and I will
be very happy there :-)  I can't wait to move! I'm also getting rid of a

I promise not to over do :))))

Believe me, I'm weeding :-))  I also got rid of most of the clothes that
are too big. The ones that were in excellent condition are up on eBay
now. At the rate I'm going, the money I'm making will pay for the move :))

I feel great! I've lost another 9.4lbs (I went to the bariatrician
today). He's ready to make me a poster child for overweight adults who
make a real change in their lives :))

I'm still working out 3X a week at the university and I can see the
changes in my body. It's a real workout but worth it :) I had lunch with
a friend the other day who hadn't seen me in months. In the middle of
lunch she said "I don't know what it is you have, but I want it!!" :-))

to that!

Yes, a lot of the complexes now are charging $20-25 a month for a
parking space. I had lunch with a friend yesterday and she has to pay
for parking where she is. We get all that included. I have to pay
electric here, but the buildings are very well insulated, so the
electric bill isn't bad. And once I move I won't have to turn on the
washing machine and dishwasher just to block out the noise upstairs, so
my bill will go down considerably.

BTW, Dundee is famous!!  They printed his photo in this month's issue of
Bird Talk magazine :))))  I've put it on his website -
http://dundeebird.com  :))))  I'm a proud birdie mommy :)))

I'm actually downsizing a lot and getting rid of a lot of stuff. I'm
putting the extra stuff on our local potlatch group so all I have to do
is put it outside the door and people will come and get it. I've donated
all plus size clothing to Goodwill and Value Village. I have a few
things up on eBay now, and I'm going through all my stuff a few boxes at
a time and getting rid of whatever I no longer need. My new apartment is
going to be very zen :-)))

Ouch.  Around here, you may pay extra to get covered parking - and treasure
that in wintertime - but I know of no place that charges for regular outdoor
parking.  not for the first space anyway.

great pic.  Congrats to both of you.  As for that "just a bird" page - you
should have seen Puddin' Cat when we got home on Thursday.  We haven't left
him alone for more than 3 days before - this time was 4 full days.  Any
longer and we would have taken him to someone as he is a very social cat who
needs company.  He apparently was asleep when we got home and woke suddenly,
realizing we were FINALLY back.  He came charging through the living/dining
room and rounded the corner into the kitchen at full speed, having not even
waited for his legs to really wake up.  His legs were flying askew in every
direction; I don't know how he stayed on his feet.  Excitement was just
pouring out of him.  He was very clingy the rest of the day.  I pointed out
that I spent more time on Valentine's Day snuggling with Puddin' than with
Mike!  LOL  such a sweetheart of a cat.

> I'm actually downsizing a lot and getting rid of a lot of stuff.

heh, we find that is one of the advantages of moving, but mike has now
developed an addiction to thrift stores and keeps bringing home new
treasures.  sigh........

Well, most of the complexes here are covered parking. We get one covered
space with our apartments, and there are plenty of extra uncovered
spaces for those who have more than one car, or for when we have company.

Pets are the best. I remember when my dog passed away (I was still
living in NYC), one person said to me that it was "just a dog" and
couldn't figure out why I was so upset. He was my baby and those of us
who have pets know how much a part of our lives they become. Someone
could offer me a million dollars and I wouldn't give Dundee up. He's my
little sweetheart :)

> heh, we find that is one of the advantages of moving, but mike has now

LOL, I'm sticking to thrift shops for clothing now as I'm still losing
weight. But I just keep the stuff for a month, then take it back to
them. Value Village has a new thing where they give you coupons when you
donate stuff, so I drop off the too big stuff, get my coupons, and go
inside and get littler stuff :)))  I stay away from the knick-knacks and
household stuff though, although a couple of weeks ago I got a bunch of
wooden hangers for $2!!

He's welcome to my lap!  It's this 12-13 pounds in my arms and crawling up my

Pets are like husbands - they never do anything logical.  LOL  We had one
that persisted in climbing into my husband's lap anytime he was doing
repairs in the house that required him to stoop or sit on the floor.  I'd
